Italian senator says black minister has 'features of orangutan'

Cécile Kyenge, an eye surgeon who was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo but has Italian citizenship, has faced repeated racial slurs and threats since being appointed minister for integration by Letta in April.

She was once again on the receiving end of grossly offensive comments on Saturday when Roberto Calderoli, a former minister under Silvio Berlusconi and senate vice-president of the Northern League, told a rally in the northern town of Treviglio that Kyenge would be better off working as a minister "in her country".

According to the Corriere della Sera, which reported the event, he added: "I love animals – bears and wolves, as is known – but when I see the pictures of Kyenge I cannot but think of the features of an orangutan, even if I'm not saying she is one."

OK, this happened in 2013, right? Remember that user that said Giorgia Meloni is not racist, facist, nor homophobic? Well she's now the Prime Minister of Italy and guess who chose for the Minister of Regional Affairs? Exactly, the same Roberto Calderoli who said those horrible things to Kyenge. Not only after his comments they didn't make him resign, but they awarded him now with another minster.

I was the crazy one by calling Giorgia Meloni for what she is, right?

Oh and the new minster of "family" is an ultra conservative woman who wants to ban abortion and is anti-gay.

and now the south is complaining when Lega is ignoring them lol, I mean the base of this party was hate to the south, they changed their mind when they needed them to vote.. only idiots would forgive for such a hateful party.

But this goverment won't last imo, Berlusconi is too old a crazy, he's very much pro-Russia and hates Meloni, that letter scandal was funny to watch, Salvini only cares about himself and the 2 of them together won't like when a woman tells them what to do, they are sexists, especially Berlusconi.

Italians are stupid and with no memory, we been knew. But the main problem of the South was that they didn't go to vote and now they're crying over it. 

I agree with the last part, but this government needs to last enough time to make people hate them otherwise the little poor Giorgina will pass as the victim of Berlusconi and Salvini.

Tbh Salvini is the most dangerous of the 3, Meloni is a screamer but will do the best not to piss off the EU and cause Italy to pay with sanctions.
