MessyTop 12,702
Midnights handily breaks the modern-era record for single-week vinyl album sales in the U.S., with over 400,000 copies sold so far. That’s the largest week for an album on vinyl since Luminate began tracking music sales in 1991. It surpasses the previous high, set earlier this year, when Harry’s House debuted with 182,000 vinyl copies (week ending May 26, 2021). https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/taylor-swift-midnights-sales-record-breaking-start-1235159835/

monstertoronto 7,482
The way she made four of the album covers form a clock so there’s actually a “purpose” to buy all four versions and then a clever way to display them. She really is a diabolical genius with marketing.

I’ve tried so hard to get into her music but I only like a few tracks from most of her albums… but what I do LOVE is her artistry!!! Especially all the little clues and Easter eggs and stuff. LWYMMD/rep was the peak for that but I’m still keeping tabs because it’s really fun and I’m so happy for her stans who get to absorb all of this!! low key wish Gaga & Madonna (my main’s) would do more things like that. They kinda do but not to the scale Taylor does

Please not, Taylor only uses people who collab with her as an instrument to have more sales and impact, you have Lana del Rey as the most recent example. No she doesn't. One collab like this doesn't justify that. Endgame, Me! etc are examples. Hope the Swifties don't come after me for this: Taylor is a very smart businesswoman and aware of how she can come across to the public. I think, for those reasons, she often avoids collaborating with other female singers who have noticeably stronger vocals (as in Ariana, Lizzo, Beyonce, Gaga, etc.). When she does collab with singers with stronger vocals, it doesn't tend to be a true duet (as in the collab with the Dixie Chicks). I think she's an incredible songwriter-arguably the best songwriter working today-and this isn't meant to slam her or be cruel. But objectively, while her voice is lovely, pleasant, and good...it is nowhere near Lizzo, Gaga, Ariana, and Beyonce. And imo she is very aware of that...hence the lack of true duets and the fact that she rarely does live performances outside of her own shows or situations that are highly controlled. As in, she's never performed at an presidential inauguration, sang the national anthem at the super bowl, or done a lot of charity performances. *I distinctly remember Alana Haim saying something like 'I can't keep up with her, she's way better' during awards season when a journalist joked that she should do a performance with Gaga at one of the events.
