Gaga is a 'Really Cool Fit' for Harley, Joker Cinematographer says

Joker 2 cinematographer Lawrence Sher says Lady Gaga will "create a similar kind of magic" that Joaquin Phoenix brought to the first movie.

 

"I'm so excited, first of all I was a huge A Star is Born fan, also a Gucci fan, I really believe in her as an actor. She’s going to be a really cool fit for this movie and will create a similar kind of magic that Joaquin brought by himself. The combination of the two will be exactly what we hope, which is exciting, and we’ll find magic every day on set. Hopefully we’ll also have a bit of madness in there. We like when there is a little bit of chaos.”

Although the setting from the first movie is 1981, the vibe from it is definitely giving the era where the rat pack and jazz music/big band were more popular in the USA (1940s-1950s)

Will be interesting to see Joker and Harley are doing jazz hands with traps,

She is so perfect for this role, people have no idea but soon will see it. This is not the suicide squad, the first movie was a realistic depiction into madness, it’s meant to feel human, it’s not about superheroes and polished, superficial aesthetics, hot people and cheeky scripts. She does crazy so well, she will be amazing, I know it. She is MEANT for this role!!! I believe it will be her best role to date, I just feel it.

I agree. Tbh, I think her acting in the MTN mv is a relatively good indicator of what her role will be like and how she'll play it. Given the first movie, this definitely won't be a traditional take on Harley. It's going to be a reimagining of the character that's a lot more grounded and realistic, like what Joaquin did. And I agree, I think this certainly has the potential to be her BEST role to date!

Let's hope not. That was 11 years ago - two years before her Razzie nominated film debut in Machete Kills. Trying to extrapolate how she's going to approach a potentially career defining role in a billion dollar franchise from that is kinda silly.

For early on in her career, it was a great performance. Unless I’m missing something??

Also though, that’s why I said “relatively good indicator.” Obviously it’s not going to be the same as her acting in MTN, but the character she played there might have similarities to her version of Harley.

Even if it's already the case, she will gain more and more recognition in the years to come. After her last sold out stadium tour a third huge movie role. Not bad from the girl they said she will never be an actress ! She's such an example of what perseverance and deep belief in oneself means. Yes her star will grow more and more. But the world is not ready. I'm not sure it ever will. She's so far ahead. She'll need more breakouts. We stan so hard.

Literally ALL of this like, there’s a reason why this project has me the most excited as a fan in YEARS. I’m not sure a lot of people are prepared
