First they were both in the running to play Cleopatra, then Gaga got offered this role and it ended up going to Angelina I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin. It always takes me out when people try to cast younger actresses for roles that clearly meant for older women (especially when there are barely any interesting roles to go for them to go around in the first place). It's absolutely suited for Angie, though I think Anne-who could sing-would have been interesting if she was five years older (she's around 40, now). But didn't the woman who wrote the film herself find Gaga in a backstage area or hotel or something earlier this year to ask her personally to be in the role and was obsessed with the idea of Gaga playing her?? Or was I hallucinating? I think that was just some random person who wrote a script-anyone can write one-and approached Gaga...not like an established screenwriter. This is a different screenwriter who is very well known. There were defn. some rumors that she was in play for the Cleopatra film, though, but even those were sort of from dubious sources. OMG, Anne would be another great choice - her bone structure & this first 5 seconds of this video would've made a great case for her in a different Callas film/broadway production. Apparently they canceled the remake of Little Shop of Horrors, or put it on the backburner.
