Gaga would not agree to be in an indie film but Angelina did?

Angelina already has an established acting career. She can do anything she wants but Gaga can’t take big risks yet.

That’s a different movie. I don’t think Gaga would agree to be in an indie film at this point in her career. This is from the director of Spencer so I don’t think they’re aiming for blockbuster status.

now girl...what are you talking about? i didn't mention any other movie lmao

i just said this role would be suited to gaga...i am confusion!

also pablo larrain is a well-known and renowned director...his last two films scored best actress oscar nominations for both of its leading actresses (natalie portman and kristen stewart). I'm sure angelina will be next. this would have been a perfect film for gaga imo.

you can serve it to me ancient city style...

The way this was worded, it sounds like its taking place when she was elderly? Sounds like prosthetics will be involved.  Surely they'll be flashbacks though.

um house of gucci was kind of a risk which didn't pay off artistically imo.

acting wise she was great..film wise not so much.

Starring in a film with a great visionary director at the helm who focuses on deep character portrayals would have been a perfect fit and choice for Gaga. It would have truly given her a chance to shine!

Can't they cast an actual opera singer?

You don’t have to be opera singer to play opera singer? It’s called acting. Just like you don’t have to be a serial killer to play one.

I’m talking about a different Maria Callas biopic that Gaga was approached for. That’s completely different from this movie.

And this would most certainly not be a perfect movie for Gaga because while Pablo is a critically acclaimed director, none of his movies make actual money.

How did HOG not pay off when it’s still the highest earning adult drama since like 2019? You guys are hilarious :billie:

you're literally not reading what i'm saying properly...If we're talking box-office wise, yes it was a success but I'm talking about artistically what the film had to offer.

sure it made money but wouldn't you rather Gaga chose roles that had more substance to them? In 10 years no-one is going to remember how much money a film made but rather its impact. However what we do know is Gaga is a box-office draw so whatever film she does choose will make money either way.

I swear I’m not being shady but do you really think someone is going to remember Spencer in 10 years?

I’m all for Gaga working with artistic directors but I’d prefer if there’s a balance between art and box office because she’s no Angelina Jolie yet. She still has a lot to prove and like it or not, ASIB and HOG’s commercial success is the main reason why she gets to choose her own roles.

I could ask you the same question about HoG?

I honestly don't understand why box-office/numbers matters a lot to some of y'all. I mean yeah it's a great prospect for her to have but doesn't art and substance also matter? I'd rather sit through a film like 'Spencer' which imo had more vision and depth (also made way less money) than HoG but I guess that's just my preference.

also she's lady gaga?? an artist and a woman who is known for taking creative risks. she can truly do whatever she wants because her talent and artistry knows no bounds. in the hollywood sense, yes perhaps she might have to prove herself to her peers etc but people know that she's a dedicated artist who delivers every time. just thought i'd point that out.

I didn't mean that tho? I'm sure there's gonna be times when she will have to sing so it's gonna be strange if someone else dubs her in those parts. And btw, opera singers are performers, they have to act when they sing.

I wasn’t talking about my personal preference, just pointing out what is important in the business. Money is what gets you good roles and the fact that Gaga is carefully selecting movies that are more “commercial” is enough for me to know that she thinks the same way.

And to answer your first question, the dialogue “Father, Son and House of Gucci” alone will be more remembered than whatever Spencer was, so there’s that.

but you are kind of referring to personal preference because you stated "who exactly is going to remember spencer in 10 years?" that's blatant bias and also your clouded judgment forming that statement. There are many actors and actresses who have made films that have bombed at the box-office and are still being casted in films etc.

I still don't understand why you're comparing both film's successes when they're so different. 'Spencer' had critical acclaim whereas Gucci had box-office draw but lacked much critical acclaim apart from Gaga's performance.

Fair enough but they’ll probably have someone else sing her parts
