Her impact knows no bounds :applause:

The fact that Angelina Jolie herself watched the Born this Way video and told her makeup artist “This is what I want” :firega:

Funny how folks presented her as a trend recycler for years and on the long term she'll be seen as an inspiration to many... :toofunny:

That photograph of Gaga holds so much history. It truly was an iconic change in pop-culture and still is. Her BTW era really changed the world and thousands of life including mine. Those black/white effects, face horns, strong lip and bold eye-makeup is so sensual and alien. I will adore this the rest of my life :tony:

This reminded me of the rumour that Gaga and Angelina had an affair circa 2010, and that Angelina was obsessed with Gaga. And then also another rumour a few years later that Brad Pitt was banned from interacting with Gaga :partysick:

I don't wanna be a party pooper, but... it wasn't Gaga's "original" idea. It was inspired by McQueen's Platos Atlantis show:

Possibly McQueen took his inspiration from something else too, but I don't know if it has other origins. Gaga definitely amplified the idea and brought it to pop culture though - and she was the only one bold enough to do it like she did.

i thought so too, like it was so random for Maleficient to pop out with this look out of nowhere when Gaga just did it before, clearly inspo

Everything in the art world is referential.

I remember at the time you couldn’t walk into an H&M or Forever 21 and not see studs and spikes and basically the whole BTW aesthetic all over everything.

True she made it mainstream rather maybe but you never really create anything anyway. :)

does anyone else remember there was thread on here before the video came out where people were speculating on what the makeup could be because she said in an interview that everyone would hate it in the best way (or something to that effect).

anyway someone said "what if she wears makeup to be different races because she mentions so many" and I legit think about that like once a week and I'm so glad that wasn't the case
