Hellena Taylor, OG voice of Bayonetta, calling to boycott the game

(there are 3 videos)

She was offered only $4,000 to reprise her role as Bayonetta and unlike what Platinum Games/Nintendo said that the reason was "schedule conflicts", Hellena had the all time in the world to come back and work again for the game, for the character that she created with her talented voice acting.

I really don't know what to do, I waited for the game for a long time, but my heart will always be with Hellena, she will always be Bayonetta for me, the new actress, as talented as she is, is only imitating Hellena.

I’ve watched all of the videos, don’t worry.

Maybe I should have just kept my comments to myself, but literally no one who has waited on this game for SO long is going to boycott it, no offense

Also, I’ve done some snooping around and as little as this may sound to some of you, this is pretty standard in the industry, she technically wasn’t offered a small amount.

so maybe start with boycotting the gaming industry and not Bayonetta 3.

the problem starts when Jennifer Hale is more expensive, this offer was just a way to kick her out of the game.

What the f*ck is $4k supposed to do??? for voicing a whole ass game? This is f*cked up and will definitely leave a bitter taste in many fans' mouths (even if they choose to play the game). My hype is definitely not as big after watching those videos tbh, it feels wrong to buy the game now so idk what I'll do personally, but I guess I'm definitely not buying it upon release now.

It's like if gaga would get $4000 for ASIB2 instead of a big bunch of millions.

She will always be Bayo no matter how much Jennifer will try to mimic her, she'll never be as femme fatal as Hellena.

I do wonder if it was worth breaking her NDA for this.. Nintendo knows that they could potentially be losing a LOT of money because of her. She’s getting sued and that’ll honestly be even worse in the end

I didn't even know that they changed the VA until now tbh, but ever since they released the first trailer I've felt that something was strange about the voicing. I was watching the new trailer they released a couple of days ago today and I also felt like something was off. I guess this explains it... Sad to see her go but I don't think anyone can blame her...

And I hope they do, maybe that'll teach them something

This is so strange.

Didn't the new Bayonetta voice cost more than Helena? It's a weird choice to not keep her on, so I must be missing something, unless the new actress was paid less?

I work in the video games industry and our voice actors tend to get paid well, especially for freelancing.

That said, there's a difference between the franchise value and its profit.  Game studios can have insane operating costs and taxes. Millions of dollars may seem a lot but there's more nuance to it, especially if it's funding other products or investments.

Hopefully she gets a new gig that will pay her more though. She added a lot to the series.

I'm probably going to buy Bayonetta 3 (guilty) but my expectations are lower and tbh the new characters and visuals don't seem to vibe with me as much as the first two games.
