Princess Die is Gaga’s best song

At least when it comes to songwriting.    The song is perfect all throughout, and it’s self written (credited by BMI). I think my favorite lines are

”I’m so hungry from an anorexic heart, I’ve been trying to tell you how I feel but was never very smart”

“With the paparazzi all swarming round in my Louis Vuitton white button down, it’s not that deep”

”the final act of life will be in my own hands to do”

"Slap honey on a young pancake."

Cool that my thread about Gaga’s best song (which is about depression and suicide) got flooded with joke replies

Horrific, depressing, don't want to hear it. The whole repeat of people wanting to see her cry is faulty logic, not true.

She is saying that she values life now.

I wish people would stop making threads about the old suicide note song from years ago. It's not that good. There is no grammy in it. No #1 either.

Kinda crazy to me that she wrote a song about killing herself and everyone loved it but topic wise the fanbase just sorta...brushed it off :spin:

I get that the song is coming from a state of mind that no one wants to see her return to again, but it is lyrically one of my favorites. There was a user on here "BRR" or something like that who did a breakdown of the song and it was amazing. I love the whole thing but this portion is probably my fav:

I'm wrapped in silks made for Egyptian queens
I'll do it in the swimming pool, so everybody sees
Bleach out all the dark
I'll swallow each peroxide shot volumes
I know and love and save me from myself

I love how this section is a reference to how Marilyn Monroe was found when she died along with possibly linking that to famous rockstars who died in pools. Jim Morrison of The Doors died in a pool in Paris, Brian Jones the founding member of The Rolling Stones died in his swimming pool, and the drummer from The Who died after driving his car into his pool. All of these men were suffering from extreme drug addiction and depression at the time of their deaths.

I don't think I ever heard it until it was mentioned on this site.  I was a casual fan, not a "stan" back when she sang it during a show. I didn't hear it back then.

If anyone, anyone, anyone is feeling like hurting themself, there are phone  numbers that can be called in most countries to talk to someone.

Google found this international list:

I understand why the label asked her not to release it, but I still listen to the song knowing that my struggles with depression, eating disorders, etc. are things that other people go through and that I’m not a freak who needs to exclude myself from society because of it.

It’s also sort of a PSA song, and Gaga once mentioned before performing that people should respect artists and public figures while they’re still living instead of waiting for them to die. It’s very easy in our culture to see celebrities as items and objectify them, but at the end of the day it’s important to understand that they’re humans just like us. Princess Die might have been a princess, but she still struggled with depression and bulimia. Lady Gaga was at the top of her game in 2011 but behind closed doors she was suffering from anorexia and suicidal thoughts. The songs reminds us not to judge people from a superficial point of view.

and a side note (not to you personally) I don’t want anyone coming for Princess Die if they “bop” to songs like Replay and Mary Jane Holland :awkney:
