To be honest, I hope they don't nominate her because some years ago the Academy said they would prioritize DJs and electronic music artists in the Dance/Electronic categories. I guess this is a way for her to avoid being nominated in categories with bigger names (and ultimately, losing)

The fact Lady Gaga is the dance music Queen and hasn't get any recognition with Chromatica in those categories lately just because it wasn't a DJ album... hum

This, I thought the Grammy's had a de facto ban on mainstream musicians in the dance categories as they often swept and left nothing to the dj's. 

I'm all in for Beyonce to win big time with renaissance but if the academy nominates her... this is shady. 

Now that I think about it I think they introduced this rule after Gaga won with TF/M... and its why we don't have any noms for ARTPOP and BTW didn't receive any awards  Gay blasphemy

The Grammys seem to want to reserve dance/electronic for "hardcore DJs". Chromatica is a dance record but they would never agree to nominate it if it was submitted to Dance/Electronic. It was nominated for Pop Vocal Album.

Alice was submitted for Best Dance Recording but Im pretty sure the Grammys would've preferred if she submitted it for Pop Solo cause she's a pop star.

Dance categories are strictly reserved for DJs and electronica artists. Renaissance will be moved to the R&B and urban categories just like they moved Chromatica to the pop ones.

Don't they keep those categories for true dance artists? Usually they would move it. I'm surprised they didn't reject it and move it to pop or even r&b

Harry's era is bigger and got more longevity that's for sure but I feel like there are artists that they just love and will reward no matter what (Adele and Bruno being two of them, or the only ones really!)

Bruno for example beat out "Drivers License" which many considered THE record of the year and EOM is much bigger than LTDO!

that plus their histories with the academy (haven't lost a category since 2012 vs one pop solo win and no general field nomination) make me think Adele will triumph anyway

but for all we know they could be tired of rewarding her and give AIW pop solo for example

the last time pop solo artists won in the dance categories were Gaga & Rih in 2010 and 2011 respectively I think

these submissions could be considered risky but I think Bey commends too much respect in the industry to be blocked

thank god they submitted "Cuff It" it's gaining momentum at the right time but should have been submitted in performance as well, it could have swept!!!

This is true and I heavily disagree with the practice. Unless they're willing to also filter out the dance-pop songs that DJs produce (which regularly fill the nominations in the category since the late 2010s), the Grammy's shouldn't remove dance-pop tracks just because they feel like it fits in the pop category more. If anything, the dance and urban/R&B categories at the Grammy's highlights the problem with how nominations are determined and how genre labels work in music. I mean Calvin Harris could put out a dance-pop song and it will be nominated for the dance categories, while a female pop singer could put out the same record and it gets sent to the pop categories. I don't think it's fair and unless they resolve to clarify what fits in what category, we'll continue seeing snubs.
