Taylor Swift doesn’t perform unless the Grammys award her

At the other extreme, the Secret Boardroom is where superstar artists demand that the Academy commit major Grammys to them before they’ll agree to perform on the show. If, for example, Taylor Swift isn’t winning in a significant category, she’s not performing, and everybody knows that.

Rumor tag please. That’s not news

It’s from HDD. Everyone knows that they have real industry insight. I would’ve changed the tag but there’s no rumour option in this section.

They’ve definitely been inaccurate before though

Economy

This may or may not be true but one thing is clear about Taylor Swift by now... She cares a lot about money, acclaim, awards etc and she wants to make sure she's compensated for her work. I'm sure most artists do, but she seems to care to a greater degree than the average artist.

That's not to say she isn't talented. But clearly she REALLY likes the bling :enigma:

Gaga did this back in 2020 for the VMAs except she demanded to win every award.

that's kinda sad for her fans... i guess there's more money to be made with touring if you maintain the demand of a live performance by performing less

mother, what must i do?

Makes sense for her and many other artists at her caliber. I think it's rare to see an artist performing at the Grammys if they don't win at some point in the night OR if they're not heavily promoting a single/album.

It takes a lot to put together a performance, I doubt artists want to spend their free time doing it unless it's worth it.

Also, I feel like this is a bit misleading. It sounds like they are suggesting she forces them to rig the awards or something. When it's probably simply like "hey, the votes are in, I will put together a performance if you can tell me if I have won something".

It’s so wild that the article specifically says many artists do this but because they use Taylor as an example, this suddenly becomes a Taylor drag fest. As much as LMs would like to think otherwise. I’m almost positive Gaga has cut deals for awards. Her being the only one to have the VMA achievement award that has not been mentioned as an award that will continue to he handed out? Yeah, that’s a perfect example of this.

And they do most of the time—they have been wrong plenty of times as well. There’s a reason this is posted under their “Rumor Mill” section. That means it is simply chatter, not actual sourced and verified news.

I agree that most artists have these deals but come on, who else is going to win the Tricon award after Gaga? Can you name any current artist that fits the description?
