Remember when Trump took Michigan (and the presidency) because enough progressives voted for Jill Stein instead of Clinton? This is what happens when we try to use the 3rd party option in presidential elections. We can move away from it in the coming years, but it's not going to magically work over one election cycle. Third party candidates will have had to strengthen their legitimacy over a few cycles before they have a sliver of hope to win. We can use independent and third party voting to send a message to moderate dems in the midterms and state/local elections and that'll help too. I agree with you that a 2 party system is not a good one to have, but pretending they can save us from 2024 is just not realistic.

Well sure, it can't be done quickly, but we've had at least since 2016 to see that it wasn't working and could've been taking steps since to rectify. Instead people looked for a stalemate as a best case scenario. Its simply become a game of opposition, who can cause the other to backtrack more, rather than looking for improvement or candidates/ actions that could actually make a difference

You are correct, but that doesn't change the fact that voting third party in the 2024 election will result in nothing but aiding our acceleration into a christofascist regime.

These discussions were best had after 2016 and before now. Now is the time to promote the best chance we have at avoiding said regime instead of bothsides-ing the situation and bad talking the party that unfortunately stands between us and the administration that has plans to turn us into a corrupt church government. We can do that when we're not in the brink of societal collapse.

Please no. The Dems need a new candidate.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

So like it’s gonna be Biden vs Desantis ?

Trump will run & win the nomination, whether he's indicted or not.

But all that’s based in such close-minded, two party thinking. Why are we just picking candidates to win a race in the first place? That’s the issue. It’s the voters’ fault, we’ve all been manipulated into thinking there should be and is only two options. If everyone got together and actually tried to find a candidate that could appease as many people on both sides as possible, we’d be golden. Many (most likely enough) lawmakers would get on board to vote them in as well, for fear of revolution if nothing else. Biden should NEVER be considered the best choice in any race at his age (that goes for any candidate if his age, we need an age limit on the presidency for mentality and currency reasons) and with his discrepancies and historical lack of success in offices. They’re screwing us, them being the government, but we’re letting them

Until we change the way we vote, we have to stick to two parties. There just isn't any other option that won't lead to the opposite of what we want: change.

While working in intelligence he learned to speak Norwegian, Spanish, Italian, Maltese, Arabic, Dari Persian, French. That was after graduating magna cum laude from Harvard, and attended Oxford with a prestigious Rhode Scholarship.

Sounds like a real dumdum. :lolga:

Very rarely do presidents lose out on a second term. There's nothing catastrophic about his presidency, unlike Trump.

There was nothing catastrophic about Trump until Covid either, and that was year of. Maybe we should hold our breaths a bit longer to see what happens for Biden.

I wish we could just abolish the two party system. The winner takes all way of doing things leads to nothing but loss. They just point fingers at one another, wait until midterms and election years to do anything meaningful, and then cross their fingers that it'll keep them in power for another 2 years. There's more than 2 idealogies and 2 stances on any given issue, especially considering the vast ecosystems the US covers.

True, but how do you switch to a different system?  It can't be some people voting 3rd party when the system is still two party, because that leads to bad results.

Best way to do so would be another Trump. In the way that they're a dark horse in the beginning of a campaign and build a cult following strong enough so that the party they're running under wouldn't be able to ignore them unless they were willing to kill the party.
