I saw the trailer(s) and it was so cringe

It reduced all the gay men to sex driven and stereotypic idiots

Hope it flops because if I were gay I would feel discriminated by this movie

People are generally going to cinemas post covid for major releases now. Yes, there are exceptions, like Everything Everywhere All At Once earlier this year, but for the most part it’s blockbusters bringing in the crowds nowdays.

Look at the current couple months at the box office, not a “big” release for a while and the BO has been very dead. People just keep going to see Maverick over and over.

Bros will find it’s audience, but a gay romantic comedy post covid with so many new smaller films going straight to streaming was always going to be a hard sell to viewers.

I'd love to see it, but I can't take my chances of getting sick from just seeing a movie when my mom just got diagnosed with cancer. Covid is still real for the folks who have compromised immune systems and disabilities. :(

I already don’t like straight romcoms so this is a hard sell for me lol

might still go see this but only for Symone and TS Madison’s cameos

When I, a gay, went to see Nope with my boyfriend we saw the trailer for Bros and thought it looked soooo cringy. It was like they took tiktok and meme humor and tried to translate it to a dated rom com formula. It seemed like a constant barrage of bad one-liners, trying to appeal to a generation with a tiktok attention span. But each joke felt like it was written at a table with way too many writers

Billy's whole promo routine was yelling that everyone needs to see this to prove they are not homophobic. That's nonsense and nobody owes him or his movie anything. I'm sure the movie is great fun and I think a lot of people would like it if they didn't feel like watching a movie is a moral obligation, instead of just a fun experience. The Birdcage did great in the super homophobic 90's because the interest was spontaneous and organic.

Billy ****ed himself over.

I really like Billy but man he’s been annoying during the promo of this movie. Like I get it he’s passionate about this project that he worked so hard for but he needs to chill a bit and let the work speak for itself. I’ll see the movie and I think I’ll enjoy it too but I’m not a fan of his attitude. It’s a personal success and a nice win for the queer entertainers but people are literally dying outside Kim.

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

i loved the movie so much! my whole theater was laughing out loud the whole time. i cried a lot too.

maybe this is internalized homophobia speaking, but i felt like the marketing of the movie was its downfall (in addition to straight up homophobia lol). the movie is a rom com at its heart, but the trailer presents something else entirely in my opinion. i wasn’t even interested from the trailer but went to the movie to support The Agenda. that line about straight people being over for example just seems like something weird to include when trying to pull in straight people to your movie lol. it’s also not even relevant in the movie and 100% a throwaway line

I think I would be a little more apt to watch if it weren't another story about white gays falling in love. I cannot relate to that privilege, even if the storyline is LGBTQ. He should just be happy it's being praised. Perhaps I'll watch it in the future.

Yes. BIPOC people are usually excluded in love stories, especially LGBTQ. This is not new information.

But are you talking about movies and series, or real life?
