After the liberation of Lyman yesterday, Ukraine managed to solidy its gains by establishing control over the nearby settlements of Zarichne, Torske, Terny. Ukraine's recent expansion endangers the Russian positions in the town of Kreminna - the next natural target for the Ukrainians on their way to the heart of Luhansk oblast.

At the same time, the Ukrainians are said to continue their push East of the OIskil river (though with less visibile succes) as the Russians continue their (failed) advance attempts in the Siversk-Bakhmut sector and around Donetsk city. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian troops repelled Russian attempts to advance near Bakhmut, Zaitseve, Spirne, and 4 other settlements in Donetsk Oblast.

In Kherson, after some initial progress in late August/ early September and a prolongued stalemate, it seems that things are moving again: Ukraine reportedly attacked from three directions and was able to make some gains in the north. The Ukrainian flag was planted on the Watermelon monument and unconfirmed reports claim Ukraine peneterated deeper into Russian-held territory along the Denieper, reaching Zolota Balka and Khreshchenivka.

Animation of Ukraine's most recent eastern counter-offensive shows the extend of Ukraine's gains in Kharkiv and now Donbas:

Let's hope the Russian defensive front collapses before the winter. It'll be an absolute bloodbath when the Ukrainians come to liberate major cities esp. Luhansk and Donetsk.

Is there some reason my LG7 isn't here? Has she died or something?

I don't think any important battles will be fought in the winter. Everything will freeze then and will be a lot of snow, strong cold winds etc. So we have like 2 more months for potentially major events on the frontlines, and after this who knows what will happen in Europe if the energy crisis turns out to be bad.

Taking the pre-2014 territories of Donetsk People's and Luhansk Republic (and Crimea) through military force is almost close to impossible. I saw some jokes that Ukraine should bypass the trenches from that region and take the Russians by surprise in Rostov-on-Don and attack from there. They had a point. :bear:
