Maxine Puth 9,053
Honestly forgot about this song, which sucks because I was really hyped for it. I think it’s mostly because it’s already a sound she’s done pretty well before with ASIB and BTW and it doesn’t really add anything to her discography. But it is a nice song, and it being the encore at TCB makes a lot of sense

Other artists are fair game. Reporting me won't make the song a hit. Where are the facts though? Theme songs from hugely successful movies like The Lord of The Rings (2003), Avatar (2009), Toy Story 3 (2010), Lés Miserables (2012), James Bond (2015), La La Land (2016), The Lion King (2019), Rocketman (2019), James Bond (2021) etc have all performed worse than Hold my Hand. In fact, 90% of the Oscar-nominated songs in history haven’t even charted within the Hot100

StrawberryBlond 14,820
It's great to see it get that accolade only 5 months after release. And it recently hit 1.1 million likes too, which is very well-mirrored. Considering it didn't smash as we'd hoped, these stats are still pretty darn good. No idea why so many fans didn't like this or thought it was a bit meh. I love it and the music video looked epic. Perhaps she just released it too soon after Shallow and it was treading familiar ground but that doesn't take away from its amazing quality. I think performing it on tour helped raise its status among fans at least. It was at around 65 million views when the tour started and was about 94 million when it finished, meaning it got 29 million views during the tour, which I think is significant. It may not have been a smash, but its views have been consistent. I mean, 911's a beloved video in this fanbase and it has less views (yet has huge fan support), so clearly fans and the public are watching and connecting to it, even if it wasn't reflected on the charts. Charts aren't always indicative of how much a song is supported. For what its worth, I heard it playing in my shopping mall (as well as SL and unbelievably, Alice!) so it's not like it hasn't filtered through the public (unless the director of that mall is just a massive stan)! I'm hoping it will get Oscar nominated at the very least. I can't think of many other songs that could get submitted, so it's in with a massive chance. I'm sure the movie's studio will be pushing for this one more than the OneRepublic song seeing as Gaga was the only one who got a massive push in hype. And I'd say a good performance of it, which is a given, may well give it a resurgence. Not saying it'll out-perform OneRepublic, but who knows, maybe top 20 at least? 13 minutes ago, Meat said: Where are the facts though? In fact, 90% of the Oscar-nominated songs in history haven’t even charted within the Hot100 I agree, most movie theme songs actually don't do well. Sure, there's a lot of movies that I hear people say "I love the theme for that" but when you look up how it performed on the charts, most of the time, it didn't even hit top 40. But people still know it and love it. You'd think songs released by successful artists in blockbuster movies would be a hit by design but most of the time, it isn't a chart hit but still is a beloved favourite by the public nonetheless. Most songs that win the Oscar for best song tend not to be a smash unless it's a Bond theme, maybe. And of course, Shallow. But those are the exceptions, not the rule. The song didn't do well anywhere really. Without the huge buzz of the movie, it wouldn't even crack the top100. Sorry guys, let's be real here. In fact, I think it's safe to say it's one of the worst performing theme songs from a successful movie, ever. Not a hit for you.Gaga literally didn’t do s- about it that’s why. They didn’t even add it to Spotify’s biggest playlist for like 2-3 weeks.0 performances and radios pulling it.If Gaga went full on promoting it,it would have smashed
Charliie 1,828
I'm kinda glad this song wasn't as popular because of the emotional value attached to it. Another user, reported your comment for being unnecessarily negative. It would be easier to gently couch what you are saying with a preface, I'll show you. You know how it is, a spoon ful of sugar and all that. What you said: "The song is not a hit, it didn't do well, and for the theme song of one of the most successful movies in history, it did terribly." What you maybe could have said to not offend some people: I realize what I am saying may be hard for some fans to swallow, but the song is not a hit in the traditional sense, it didn't do very well, and for the theme song of one of the most successful movies in history, it did terribly, in my opinion. Just a gentle rephrase, is all -- and even that is a suggestion -- you don't HAVE to do it, don't worry! It's not too serious. We get a lot of flamebait reports. I mean at the end of the day, we just want everything to go well. Sepsami 18,825
People are so chart obsessed, the song is beautiful and praised by critics. Just because it's not topping billboard doesn't mean it's unworthy. Remember Shallow before the performance?
