Oh this fits her nicely! The chorus with all the LM girls hit hard though, but I guess if this went to her they could have easily added layers.

Still hoping for a big comeback for JoJo. Masked Singer was a good start to get her name out there again.

What happened to jojo? Why did she disappear for so long? Was it a sky Ferreira being held hostage by label sort of thing?

I love JoJo, but this song is perfect for Little Mix and they definitely elevated it to what it is now. I'm surprised to see so many artists passed on it, although it's maybe because the final production turned it into real hit material.

Literally, yes... except worse than Sky Ferreira's situation. Her label went bankrupt and stopped functioning as a record label, but didn't technically close so they wouldn't let her out of her deal to sign with another label, and they also had stipulated in her contract that they owned her voice, so she couldn't even get paid to do collaborations on other artists' work. So for almost a decade she was forced into semi-retirement and it cost her what would have been the peak years of her career. It was a really messed up situation, thankfully she eventually managed to get out of the deal but she had to sue them and it took years to be resolved, and to be honest they really should owe her significant damages.

Holy sh*t that’s crazy. She was huuuuge and only and like 13 years old? She would’ve had such a big career if she kept putting music out into her teens and the transition to adulthood era etc. significant damages indeed she’ll never get that time back that’s so sad

Not to mention she pulled a Taylor Swift before Taylor even did it.

Years ago she re-recorded her first two albums to be able to own them and did what she wanted. So now she owns those alongside the few singles she put out after like disaster and demonstrate.

Yeah, she signed the deal when she was 12 so probably didn't have much understanding of it and clearly wasn't given good advice, and to **** her over even more the label removed all of her music from streaming platforms which essentially cut off a whole decade of new people discovering her music. In 2018 she re-recorded her first two albums because the label owned the master recordings, so she was essentially covering her own music so she could have it on streaming services, and several years later it's basically the same concept that Taylor Swift is doing with her re-recordings. JoJo was lucky that she still had a loyal fanbase from when she debuted and she could tour, but yeah her former label really owe her millions for how much they effected her career.
