I think it's really tough for old people to loose a partner they had for soo many years at their side like she did. I mean I can't really imagine being married that long - it must be like losing an integral of yourself. The death of her husband surely has taken a great toll on her. And the state of the world in the last three years has probably not helped - all the crisis, drama and stress must be a lot for someone 90+ and obviously she couldn't just watch but had to keep up with all of that. Mad respect to her for even though I'm not a supporter of monarchy.

I thought that.  Once Philip passed away you could see her making a decline.  It is so common that when an elderly person’s partner passes that they follow them shortly after.  Very sad.

Huge respect to Elizabeth II: after all, She served long and well, to the very end; a great lady, and a great Queen, may She Rest In Peace.

Im devastated by this news, she is a true icon, a legend, people will talk about her in years to come and she'll go down in history as such a stable factor in a turbulent era.

She was the very best monarch that could've ever served the realm.

didn't they say she was "fine" earlier today?

They said she is alright

They lied to us

What a sad day

From now on, whenever someone says s.o. is alright , that will be hard to believe

also why did they rush to her, when they said she's fine`? because they got secret other info with the truth and they were informed iwth accuratei nfo first

The public was kept in the dark for hours

They should have informed people equally

It’s just the protocol, it will be that way when Charles dies

May she rest in peace.

I am Irish and I have no love for, nor interest in, the monarchy, but this woman truly was iconic, quite possibly THE most famous person on the planet for much of the last 70 years. During her reign there have been seven Popes, five of whom have predeceased her, and there have been 15 UK Prime Ministers, eight of whom have predeceased her. There are not that many people left who can remember living in a world where she was not the Queen.

RIP.

I am heartbroken. As a 30 year old remembering singing hymns about the queen in school, to working at the Press Association early on in my career and learning about London Bridge, I never thought it would happen.

She will be missed sorely and I worry about the state of the UK without her powerful yet mostly silent influence.

RIP Queen Elizabeth.
