Quite the opposite actually. Almost all the reviews are praising his performance, even if they hate the movie. The backlash will be limited to SJW circles and pop girl forums :billie:

Where is all that praise you say, cuz all I’ve seen is mixed reviews

It's definitely mixed, but if you look at twitter is makes it out to be far worse than it actually is...some of the most critical tweets/tidbits from reviews on twitter are actually from 'fresh' reviews on RT.

That's not uncommon for social media, though, to be more negative than something is in reality...

I mean, it's funny, but this kind of reminds me of how people kept going on about how Salma hated Gaga and then there were behind the scenes photos of Salma being very warm and friendly towards Gaga at BAFTA, SAG, etc.

We shouldn’t bash him because it sounds like something Gaga would have said :laughga:

It does though :ladyhaha:

"I've been acting in movies that feel like movies ever since I was 4" or something like that :ladyhaha::heart:

To me, Chris Pine’s reaction is waaay too poker face. “Screams coming out of his throat?” He’s like a frozen mummy sitting there. I wish he’d chuckled at least! Actors are way too serious these days!

reviews:

Little White Lies, Hannah Strong: "Her (Pugh's) hardest challenge is performing opposite the vacant Harry Styles, whose acting is so stiff and self-conscious it’s impossible to take him seriously..."

The Independent, Geoffrey Macnab: "Styles lacks charisma... Jack is a one-dimensional figure, and the One Direction star fails to give him any hidden depth. Pugh is easily the film’s most vivid and compelling personality. She plays Alice in such fiery fashion that most other characters seem robotic by comparison."

The Daily Beast, Marlin Stone: “Styles struggles to match [Pugh’s] go-for-broke intensity. The musician is like a deer in headlights throughout much of the proceedings, and a scene of him crying in the car following a particularly fiery row with Pugh is littered with more crocodile tears than Charlie Sheen being hauled out of his office by the cops at the end of Wall Street.”

The BBC, Steph Green: "Styles doesn’t quite feel up to the material here, with leaden line delivery and a lack of light and shade making his two-hander scenes opposite Pugh fall flat”.

The Times, Kevin Maher labels the singer, “a huge problem for the film” ... “He’s wooden as. Especially opposite Pugh, who’s an innately gifted and charismatic screen giant. One could imagine that she was exacting some level of revenge on Wilde, because she wipes the floor with Styles in their every encounter. Each time it’s like watching Brando do the ‘contender’ scene opposite former One Directioner Niall Horan.”
