it's very nostalgic and brings me back to my childhood, but in an objective answer, i think it's because it's futuristic and has a different form of storytelling compared to the mvs before bad romance or paparazzi

She definitely had better videos, but I’d argue that Bad Romance is one of the most perfectly executed videos of all time. It just has the right amount of everything.  There may have been bigger spectacles but they weren’t as effective.

Guys I obviously recognize the cultural impact it has and how innovative it was in 2009 but it’s not what this thread is about, I’m trying to measure it objectively as a video compared to her other ones

Compared to the fame videos, aside from paparazzi, it had more symbolism and room for curious interpretation than any of her previous videos at the time imo

the paparazzi and bad romance eras kinda merge in my mind she was on the same energy for both eras tbh and they were close together

I think it's Gaga's most visually perfect music video - by far. It's so minimal and streamlined, yet filled with so much juxtaposition, symbolism and creativity. The fashion, choreography and creative direction feel futuristic yet also ageless and classic. The images throughout are just very striking and captivating.

Also on a vapid note it was the first time she ditched the Gaga   bangs :vegas: lol

but maybe that’s not so vapid cuz as we later learned she felt like her bangs were something to hide behind. Meaning she was feeling confident and vulnerable

you had to be there.

it’s kind of like how you can’t really fully understand the impact of the VMAs paparazzi performance or the meat dress unless you were there.

what a time. i will stan forever.

how its perceived as one of the best music videos of all time, like, it's not even in gaga's top 10...

It became one of the best of all time because of the impact it had at that moment! And although you find the eyes tacky etc, everyone was talking about the big eyes, the way her spine looked on some shots, the last scene, etc. The video itself felt fresh and bold and new. Add to that how amazing the song is by itself.

Now,  to answer your question, of course some of her other videos are better, more produced, etc, just as you said, but they didn't have the same impact, and that's what makes bad romance one of the best of all time. It's for a reason it was the most watched video of all time on youtube at that period. :vegas:

So yea, to be one of the best of all time it has to have impact. Now if you want to make a top 10 of gaga's videos on quality, production, etc, then thats another topic, but the bad romance video is THAT b*tch :bradley:

Mte.  Still my favorite.  Imo it's still futuristic and ageless.

I live outside the space time continuum.
