Me talking about the unfixed global supply chains and CEO price gouging, instead of government spending:

Cancel the interest for good! That’s the outrageous part of this whole scam.

And cancel any interest that has accrued since.

Are most loans from Government? Also what's the typical interest rate? Is it higher than inflation?

20M?? Yesss. Rare Biden W?? Its not all debt or $50k but I think this is bigger step forward than what the left is used to? Gah I’m so happy for the millions of lives this will help 🥲🥲🥲 Hope the next admin can do even more

It's basically the perfect number to wipe out millions of people's debt without crossing into yearly-salary level figures. Especially for pell grant recipients, this is a HUGE win for them. I think the plan is that if Dems can hold on to congress, and have some wiggle room in the senate, they'll be able to tackle the cost of higher education after the midterms. If democrats can keep the house, and get 52-54 seats in the senate, we might be able to get a LOT passed.

Most student loans are federal government loans yes, the interest varies but it's usually between 2-5%. Most are fixed rate.

Cancelling all this debt only does so much without fixing the systems that created all this debt in the first place

Yes, it's kicking the can down the road, but don't let perfect get in the way of good. This lifts millions from crippling debt, and puts a spotlight on the issue that can be addressed in a less split congress.
