high culture 2,362
Cancelling all this debt only does so much without fixing the systems that created all this debt in the first place

Ceres 3,342
For me personally, it’s more that the jobs I’ve been getting / searching for don’t add up to make back what I owe in loans. I know there’s 50 more pieces to the overall issue as well. I did everything “correct” as in working throughout college with minimum wage jobs, got a job right after graduation in my field… and I’m still paying over 500/no in loans (pre-pandemic), and suffering due to it. I’ll most likely refinance if it comes down to it. Any relief is good relief, but once we have to start paying back loans , there’s going to be *many* people who now have houses, cars, children, medical bills due to pandemic and whatnot- all will financially suffer ✧ ✧ ✧
RAYA.core 828
my thing also is not just the signing on the dotted line but the promises used to scam students especially private owned institutions. career service for life, i was a fool and they would never help find me a job. having no credit to the statistics of students they collected, their turnover rates, all of that which should have been on the look out for. plus the harrasement of joining before the next quarter when all of the classes were on a rolling basis. ╰☆╮𝙸𝚐𝚗𝚘𝚛𝚎 𝚊𝚕𝚕 𝚑𝚊𝚝𝚛𝚎𝚍 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚌𝚛𝚒𝚝𝚒𝚌𝚒𝚜𝚖. lilboyblue 6,041
Just curious. How much student debt does one usually accrue at the end of a 4-year degree in the US?

Depends on the student If you are an undergraduate student, the maximum amount you can borrow each year in Direct Subsidized Loans and Direct Unsubsidized Loans ranges from $5,500 to $12,500 per year, depending on what year you are in school and your dependency status. Among those who borrow, the average debt at graduation is $25,921 — or $6,480 for each year of a four-year degree at a public university.
