In case you missed this:

Richie (who did not share his surname with Input) is part of a WhatsApp group with other Little Monsters — the name for Gaga’s fandom — in Mexico. As he was preparing for his trip, Richie says, one of the chat participants “asked who had pit tickets to throw Gaga a Simi.”

...

Richie deliberated briefly, then decided to make a detour on his way to the airport to pick up a doll. “I was like yeah, let’s do that, it’s a Mexican tradition,” he says. “If she doesn't come to Mexico, we will take Mexico to her.” He wrote on the plushy toy’s white jacket: “MEXICO STILL LOVES U… paws up!”

Little did he know that when he did, in fact, throw the Simi onstage — hitting Gaga in the head while she performed her Top Gun: Maverick theme song “Hold My Hand” — it would cause an international stir.

...

Richie insists his gesture was loving. “It was never my intention to hit her in the head,” he says. “I just wanted her to see the plushy or maybe grab it, but it didn’t go as planned.” He says that he’s been surprised by the negative response. “It’s been so weird,” he says. “There’s been so much hate on [Twitter].” He adds that he does appreciate some of the memes that have been made about the incident though.

Bonkers

When that video of the "invisible force field" was trending all over, I thought

"oh great, now everybody is going to be throwing things to see if there really is an invisible protection field around Lady Gaga"

I thought maybe that's what happened but the truth was less exciting  :cryga:

In fairness, this was the done thing at the BTWB. That being said, that was a decade ago and there was an actual part in the show where she sat down and welcomed the gifts on the stage. You certainly do not throw items on stage in the middle of a performance.

Bonkers

Also, that fan is obnoxious for throwing it.

The first time I went to the monster ball, I brought something to get into Gaga's space somehow, but it really did not feel right to throw it at the stage.

What was it?

Well I'm glad you asked

I had drawn up a proposal for Gaga to trade in her boring tour busses for a tour Blimp.

IMAGINE A MOTHER F*CKING GAGA BLIMP floating into town  :diane:

It would have been ICONIC :diane:

I mean, it's not like he was the first to do it. He's just the first to get so much hate for it. I really don't think he intentionally hit Gaga, although now I hope people will stop throwing sh*t onstage. She's obviously over it anyway.

Yeah there seems to be a cultural thing here. But throwing something on stage while she was mid song with flames on the stage…that was kind of common sense.

Obviously it wasn't his intention to hit Gaga in the head and many fans have been throwing stuff in past Gaga shows.

But if they were really gonna throw it, I wish they threw it at a better time. They are getting hate because it was the wrong time to throw it. She was performing midsong and there were pyrotechnics everywhere.

To be fair, at this point it became a mexican tradition to throw Dr. Simis, that fan just had bad luck (and even worse aim lmao), but there wasnt any bad intention behind it.

I think it's more about the timing and aim than the action itself. Maybe if it got thrown in the piano section where she could've seen it and actually have time to acknowledge it, the backlash would've been non existing

Damn it sucks the guy got immense hate. Wasn’t it obvious he didn’t mean to hit her? There are much harder objects one can throw if you wanna hurt Gaga…

Hopefully people realize he didn’t mean to hit her. I never thought it was intentional. Just bad aim and bad timing.
