It is known that shea is not really into Gaga (and you could tell during that lip sync, she didn’t know the words and all she did was the choreo from the music video).

even if she wasn't 'into gaga' they get told all the potential songs so she would've learnt it anyway, they don't just find out the song the night before

This seems obvious.  They're only going to spend $$ on the rights to songs they want to use. lol

I think the first 7/8 seasons of drag race were as real as drag race will ever be. They were able to let it be a bit more real but now that it’s massive and has moved beyond the niche market… it’s sadly just like every other reality show.

I still love watching the challenges and some inbetween moments when the queens are interacting but I skip everything else for the most part.

The biggest turn off for me was the judging “critiques” in AS 7. I get it - it’s good to be positive. But just like they said in AS 2, they have to start nitpicking because they are all just so good (and that’s ok!). They were obviously just trying to not make the fandom furious over “bad” critiques. I loved that no one was eliminated but they could still have ranked the queens and been more real.

OT: everything is pre-planned and I guess that’s what we have to live with.

No. Plenty of others like you who comment things just like this on threads like this. Surprised you haven't seen them. I guess you must have at least one single f**ck to take time out of your day and no f**k's to read this thread title, click it, type a comment and hit submit reply though :ohwell:

it's obvious the winners are picked from the start or at least the top 4 and they just rig and edit everything in favor of those queens

Agree, the All Stars critiques were a JOKE lmao

It's obviously a fully planned show. It's even semi-scripted with producers feeding subjects to the queen's "ask x about her x" so they can get good footage.

I mean.. Kandy Muse in a finale? No hun. Not in anyone's reality.

... shea coulee getting near a finale in 2 all stars seasons? No. She brings NOTHING.

this is why i stopped watching the show, when i realised the winner is decided by production

i know that's the 'reality' of reality tv but when you see how painfully obvious it is, it ruins the show...

they will use editing to sway the audience to follow their intentions on who will win, it's just very rare moments like valentina's lip sync mess that are truly real and cause a dent in production plans

I remember when I first heard that sponsors and producers chose the winner of America's Next Top Model before they even started filming, and suddenly, all of Tyra's weird decisions and elimination choices made sense.

All Naomi has done since she filmed AS4 is moan about absolutely everything. Why continue to watch and engage with a show u hate?

When has RuPaul ever pretended that its not RuPaul's Drag Race?

We've seen so many times over the years that you have to appeal to Ru or show Ru/the producers that you have some value to the show to succeed

I wasn't trying to compare Ru and Tyra if my comment came off that way. I was addressing how scripted and rigged these shows are.

You're absolutely right. Ru ultimately makes the final choice, and time has shown that she tends to pick the fan favorite.

Same. I know it has always been produced and edited a lot, but I really feel like it has jut gotten worse and worse over the years. I remember watching an episode of Untucked (I think it was season 8 or 9 maybe) and my friend and I realised that they had fabricated a whole conversation, because the queens in the background kept switching around and having different clothes on in each shot. A whole conversation, reactions, everything, completely fabricated and pieced together from random shots. Ever since it's felt faker and faker. I haven't watched the main show or any of the spinoffs for about 4 seasons.

Honestly it would be so much better to watch as a viewer if it was organic. If they just put a group of queens in a space, gave them tasks, and they had to battle it out with their talent. And whoever wins, wins. Honestly I can't stand reality TV anymore, but I feel like I'd love these kinds of shows if they were real

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

Are you thinking of the infamous Katya untucked where not only does she move position like 10 times in the same conversation, but they also use the same clip of her laughing four times? :laughga:
