Spain has banned public places from lowering temperature below 27C with their air conditioning and that doors must remain closed in order to conserve energy

 

Europe continues to struggle with an energy crisis from shortage of natural gas from Russia, to hot weather increasing AC use, to the also hot weather creating disruptions in Nuclear Power and Coal generation across different Nations

when I read articles like this I can't help but think about this meme... though I would replace the words  "Nato countries" with "europe".

As usual, citizens have to pay for the damages done by the elite

I mean there is an ongoing war and sacrifices have to be made but okey. I don't think this is a "lmao" matter. A lot of countries will be without energy this winter which will affect everyone even the elite. 

Something had to be done to show Russia that they don't have as much power as they think they do. Hopefully this will force Europe to invent or invest in a new type of energy source that can replace the reliance on Russia.

It will not impact the elite. Many of them have expenses claims on energy and are likely easily able to have biomass & solar installed so they will feel no difference.

the sanctions aren't harming Russia at all... they are also not harming our politians... they are harming the normal people... people in my country who in winter have to decide whether to freeze or starve because they can't pay for both. I can't believe this is happening in 2022

If they didn't then they wouldn't threaten us with nukes if we sanctioned them further. Sanctions have an effect long term not short term.

well I hope it shows... but it at this point I doubt it... it takes too long.. until effects show up unemployment will be massive in my country since we depend on gas so much. It's gonna be a disaster and our government doesn't do anything at all... (I'm in Spain right now, talked to a lot of locals and things are a lot better here because the government here takes measures)

...sanctions take years and it will take decades to recover from. I don't know why people don't just research these things instead of saying it isn't working. It hasn't even been 6 months.

Speaking of gas, it's our governments fault for relying on Russia in the first place.

I just said it takes too long... and I said they are harming innocent people too and that is a fact! I see what is happening in my country. Even though in the long run it might harm Russia, it will harm us too big time.

Those sanctions mostly hurt the poeple who already struggle financially and now even the middle class... I have people in my family who already struggle big time because everything has gotten so expensive and they are already anxious of having to deal with the additional gas payments in january. (4 times more expensive) My sister will not be able to have heating in winter (and we live in a northern country)

I'm not saying those sanctions are entirely wrong; I'm saying that the government in my country doesn't give a **** about our people and that's a fact. A tiny bit of empathy for the people who are struggling big time wouldn't hurt.

The point of these snactions are to punish Russia and it doesn't matter how long it will take until it shows any effect. This has damaged the relationship between Russia and the west anyway so Europe has to find  way to get gas elsewhere.

Of course it has damaged the relationship... lol Putin is a ****, but the sanctions won't ever hurt him. He also doesn't seem to care about his own country. He may live another 10 or 15 years in wealth.

but it still hurts the west big time now. And by west I am talking about the regular people and not the rich, upper class or politians. The latter have an income of 30k a month - if I had that much I wouldn't need to worry about sanctions and exploding gas prices. and get gas elsewhere? If it's that easy, go and tell the governments. I bet they haven't thought about that yet

it does matter because people's lives depend on it.
