Lizzo‘s “About Damn Time” dominates the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart for a second week.

Beyoncé‘s “Break My Soul” rises to a new No. 6 Hot 100 high and Post Malone‘s “I Like You (A Happier Song),” featuring Doja Cat, returns to the top 10, rebounding to its No. 9 best, boosted by the July 25 premiere of its official video.

I sometimes struggle to connect with a lot of the Hot 100 acts but Harry and Lizzo I genuinely enjoy. Bad Bunny seems lovely, even if I struggle to enjoy his music personally. It's beautiful to have so many LGBTQ allies succeeding and leading the future. And, of course, I am in Bey's pocket since I bought the  "No, No, No" CD single.

Tbh the fact that BMS isn't getting #1 is making me feel better that Stupid Love never did either. It's so true what Madonna said about ageism and the charts. 

Not that the charts really matter at all anyway, but it's worth noting the misogyny.

 Music charts just dictate what is popular at the moment. While ageism is certainly a prominent factor in the music industry, sometimes it’s just a matter of a song not being the numerical most popular. BMS is a successful lead single, just not the most popular song of the moment thus far. To be honest, it’s not even the best song off its parent album.

I know I'm just saying personally, majority of the music I listen to is nowhere on the billboard charts. It's just another part of "the machine" in the business of music Gaga mentioned years ago. It literally means nothing. What matters is your personal taste. Especially now that streaming has changed the way songs are made and sound, not to mention songs over time have become incredibly more repetitive and less original.
