Justin Trudeau's disaproval Ratings hit 51% the highest it's ever been

 

By Regional breakdown Liberal Support is highest in Eastern Atlantic Canada while in the Prairies Alberta and Saskatchewan unsurprisingly the strongest support is for the Conservatives

 

Trudeau continues to struggle with the same thing every other leader does right now mainly high inflation with wages that are not keeping up

 

Meanwhile National Problems like unaffordable housing continue to not progress and innitiatives like $10/day childcare have been a slow a bumpy rollout

I don't think "change" is necessarily better if the proposed changes are worse than the status quo

 

Just because the status quo has problems doesn't mean a change will automatically be for the better.

I really feel that Canada has no future. Or maybe atleast the Toronto area. Everything is expensive, raising a family here is unafforable, and housing shortages compared to how much immigrants they are bringing isn't sustainable. I really want to leave and move to the US (or another country, or even province). As long as you have a decent job in the US, you will make more money for the same Canadian job and you will get healthcare and benefits from the organization. Also, they have a lot more places with decent weather and cheaper housing. Toronto used to be a city for middle class people but it's slowly becoming more and more elitist I find. My own neighbourhood in Toronto 10 years ago was quite humble. Now, we have smaller houses being torn down and literally replaced with mansions, driving up all the costs in the area. One driveway will have a Dodge Grand Caravan and they might have 3 kids, the house beside them will have a Porsche and the people who live there are rarely actally living there. Its really strange and sad at the same time.

Gay marriage was legalized in Canada way before Justin Trudeau even entered politics. So in my opinion, he gets no credits for that.

Allowing refugees and immigrants is good if it's done with proper long term planning. If the people who are already living in Canada are suffering due to the high costs and housing shortages, bringing in more people into the country is not a good idea. 

Also, Canada has high taxes and lower incomes compared to the US + major metropolitan areas like Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are very expensive in general. I have seen your posts about you wanting to move to Canada from the US but I have no idea why. Sure, your people of power are bonkers, but you can move to another state in which your morals align with and there are so many cities to choose from where your Winters aren't so brutal. Essentially, Americans have a lot more to choose from and Canadians feel stuck between a few cities/provinces.

Idk I guess I'm ignorant on the topic as I've only visited Vancouver BC and a few more rural parts I can't remember because my friend was driving 

But free healthcare seems amazing as I've had a whirlwind of a time here in the US, our health "insurance" is just a complete joke. Not to mention the tax versus income ratio, basically if you don't make six figures a year you're screwed. Everyone has debt and student loans, the whole "American Dream" they sell us from a very young age in school is horse sh!t so that you will get student loans for a degree that you don't even know you really want at 18yo. Then getting an auto loan, house loan, etc. They basically want you to be in loans your entire life.

Not to mention the backwards politics and ingrained misogyny and racism in every system. And mass shootings everywhere you turn...

I can't speak for Colorado, Minnesota or Ohio, but I lived in Portland Oregon for 8 years and visited Washington often. Both states have amazing landscapes and tons of outdoor activities. You can live in Oregon and work in Washington and have no income tax. You can live in Washington and shop in Oregon with no sales tax. 

The main problem with the Pacific Northwest is the influx of people, mainly Californians , who over the last decade or so have driven up the housing costs DRAMATICALLY. Not to mention the city has become much less of a weird, artistic community and more of a white yuppy tech millennial community. It lost a lot of it's uniqueness. I remember when we were looking at apartments, just researching in 2010 and you could get a 2bd 2ba for $1000 within Portland's downtown. When we moved in 2012 it was actually $1200. One of the reasons I moved from there in 2020 was the rising rent costs. I was paying $925 for a 400sqft STUDIO. They were rising to $975 during a pandemic 

Anyways, long story short is I'm planning on moving back  personal reasons mainly as I've made so made connections there I don't want to move somewhere else and start over in my mid thirties. BUT it's still very expensive but your quality of life is higher. The cities are super liberal and sometimes, to a fault.

While our healthcare is "free", its really not because our tax money goes to it. Still, I would rather have my money go to that and benefit the actual, normal person than it going to the military industrial complex, like the US. 

But the issue is, our healthcare system has massive delays and overall it isn't as good as the US. In the US, the wait times are less, and if you can afford it, you have some of the best healthcare available to you in the world. This part does make me squeamish though because I do not like the idea of someone getting better healthcare, which in my opinion is a human right, just because they have more money than someone else. 

About the loans, why do you think its any different in Canada. People here take loans for house, school, cars, etc. To me its the same. And I would argue that the situation is better in the US because you have a lot more people, more businesses, more competition, and better prices/interest rates/loan offers. I do think the cost for university is insane in the US and I do speak from privilege when I say that the Canadian government has done a great job with post-high school education. Its heavily subsidized, as it should be. 

The racism and misogyny is also in Canada... culturally the US and Canada are very similar and both were started from racist colonial European powers (Britain, France, the Dutch, Spanish, etc.). I do think the issue have slavery has stained the US though and Canada does not seem to have such intense race relations. 

And the mass shootings... that is almost unheard of in Canada. While its sad, I do assume these are still rare in the grand scheme of things and you are more likely to die from other reasons in the end.

A 400 sq foot studio in Toronto would be $1500 (minimum) for rent, on top of maintenance fees and taxes. But I understand what you mean and I just used those places as a starting point. I really do think in the end, Americans have a lot more options and lifestyles to choose from. You have a lot more warmer places, more cities, and more integration/infrastructure. Canada feels divided. Their is a huge gap in people between Southern Ontario and the West coast like British Columbia/Alberta. Unfortunately, our East coast is not a place of opportunity and hardly anyone live there or in the north (its too cold).
