Similar. Basically it’s not even a Beyoncé problem it’s a problem with her producers The Neptunes who have their own history and beef with Kelis with shady shizz. I'm actually with Kelis on this one, and y'all know I'm ready to cut a throat over Knowles-Carter. Beyoncé knows how producers are. She knows how they dicked them around on their first album and how she got screwed over writing and producing credits. She should dot all of her I's and cross all her T's. If Pharrell brought the beat to her and she just sang on it, as soon as Pharrell cleared a sample, she should've had her people research the sample. A simple call gets her off the hook. They don't have to be friends.

"Hey! How are you! I'm fine. Listen, P brought a beat to me and it samples your music from your first album. You've already accused me of copying off of you before since you claim you're the first woman to scream on a track. I'm just calling to ask if you're OK with me using the sample. Thanks so much. I can't send the track to you because I keep a close knit on all of my stuff I'm working on, but once I've finalized the album I'd love to fly you here, or send a car to you, and you can hear it in my house. Ok, maybe not all of that, but Beyoncé is too big of a star to be caught up in stuff like this. This is small stuff. The only thing she's asking for is a call. People just want to feel empowered, even when they know they aren't. It costs us nothing to shoot someone a text or a call. Hell, have someone else call. Kelis is already in a situation where she feels taken advantage of, so she is feeling disempowered. Beyoncé could've done a lot for her self-esteem, not only as an artist, but as a Black woman. We've been talking the talk for the longest. It's time for us to walk the walk. 

 

My bad for this long rant. This is just so darn frustrating, and it isn't even my damn song. Beyoncé is so past this, or should be, it's ridiculous.

Don't even @me with the "it's how you use the sample that matters" because I'm NOT here for shifting goalposts (Rensaissance, Replay, Rain On Me, Babylon). Note that this is no shade to Beyonce, Gaga, or their excellent albums.

 Rather, this is shade to delusional stans who don't realize that sampling and interpolating other artists' music is industry standard in almost every pop album of the 2020s. 

Nobody's delusional about that actually, everybody here realized it a long time ago.

That's why they only called sample queens the ones who come across as nothing but sampling machines, not all the artist who sample frequently.

Not to mention the fact that Kelis' album "Flesh Tone" was poorly received because she was a black female artist who took a chance on a dance/electronic styled album, versus her usual rnb/hip-hop style.
