I’ve heard about half the album and I HATE to say it’s not very good (in my opinion, obviously), which is disappointing cause a Beyoncé dance album in theory sounds perfect! But the songs are pretty lacklustre.

it’ll be interesting to see the reviews

untrue (imo obvi) and irrelevant but ok

How was she able to sample the song without her knowing? Don't they need to go through a legal process of approval and then pay royalties?

Beyonce's team is to blame. Music is a business, and Beyonce's brand is so profitable- people are bound to have gross, selfish behavior. Kinda sad.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Kelis has any credit on that song? If not, they didn't have the right to contact her. Ok it's a polite thing to do, but we all know how Beyoncé Is and how She feels about herself

This is half true.

If Kelis owns the master than they had to contact her too.

There are 3 parties for samples, the songwriter, producer and the one that owns the masters.

But in Kelis case is more an unsolved situation with the Neptunes and writing credits.

Hate that she doesn't make any money off Kaleidoscope, that album is fire.

Caught Out There is my go-to song whenever I'm pissed at someone :laughga:

Kelis joining Azealia and Khia :enigma:

Welcome to the eternal club of flop

This is exactly why we need more articles like this. Loved reading it in the Sunday Telegraph :enigma:

@ me when it's the other girlies being called Sample Queens, instead of Ava Max

Don't even @me with the "it's how you use the sample that matters" because I'm NOT here for shifting goalposts (Rensaissance, Replay, Rain On Me, Babylon). Note that this is no shade to Beyonce, Gaga, or their excellent albums.

Rather, this is shade to delusional stans who don't realize that sampling and interpolating other artists' music is industry standard in almost every pop album of the 2020s.
