I'm going to take a wild guess and say the album isn't actually dance but rather basic r&b with some slight disco influence.... :triggered:

it’s not Future Nostagia or Disco. But Beyoncé uses a lot of black music influences and is supposed to not sound like a mainstream dance album. As such some will hate or love it. I’m undecided yet but only listened to it once. Sounds like it will have some solid bops.

I think when rumors about Beyoncé making a house record started floating around, people assumed this would be like Chromatica or even Future Nostalgia / Kylie Minogue's Disco upbeat dance music. This is more around Beyoncé's signature sound but influenced by a lot of black artists from 70's, 80's and 90's classics. There's a little bit of house, disco, funk, soul?, etc. I'm not a music expert but this is just from my first listen. Honestly it's quite an interesting project, you should give it a try, this comes from just a casual Beyoncé listener.

If you want a general idea of what it sounds like, you should give these songs a listen: Cozy, Virgo's Groove, Thique and Pure/Honey are highlights in my opinion, other than Break My Soul. Virgo's Groove definitely sounds like something you'd hear on Kylie's Disco or Jessie Ware's What's Your Pleasure.

damn this took me by surprise, break my soul is totally different from the rest but it also sounds harder on the record for some reason?

this was a hell of a comeback, glad she took this diverse lane, totally fits her and can't wait to see live performances

... and now i just sit in silence.

Anyone using Apple Music to stream the album? I doesn’t bring up the option to view lyrics for some reason? Is that part of her “culture-shift genius” too?
