Drake criticized over 14-minute private jet flights

While I'm sure there are many instances of celebrities taking unnecessary private jets for relatively short journeys, I do have a feeling that this specific account is misguided in it's "gotcha!" revelations about these celebs. It seems most likely that these are occasions when the plane is being moved from one hangar to another, which is routine and probably has nothing to do with Drake or Kylie Jenner.

So there are really people who have nothing better to do than stalk the private jets of celebrities, and even calculate the quantities of co2 released? seriously?

Well because middle class people are sick of paying for the mistakes of the rich.

And we have every right so.

I looked it up. His jet dumped as much CO2 into the atmosphere in 14 minutes (38 miles) as the average car will in a year (or about 11,500 miles assuming a fuel economy of around 20-25 miles to the gallon) :deadbanana:

I doubt he's to blame directly but there's no denying that's ridiculous and irresponsible :laughga:

with every thread on here that is about climate and environmental issues I always get reminded that our fav chose to ditch being part of climate change awareness for her entire career and it really baffles me. Apart from her flying private jets, wearing real fur and driving expensive cars which is her private decisions imo, it's so unimaginable to me what must have happenend that she seemed to not be moved by the climate change discussion as much as the pandemic or BLM to not also put it on her agenda of important topics that needed to be talked about. Like she is such a vocal person that it seems she really watches the world and all that is going on frequently and tries to help wherever possible and the climate crisis has been becoming a bigger and bigger topic but also realer threat. (she even had to evacuate her house in Malibu two year ago or so bc of th big fires) and she didn't talk about it ever ... We need more celebrities, especially from music to raise awareness and she would be a really great help and I'm sure she knows the importance and urgency about this but stays silent idk why

it doesn't even make sense, it takes a lot to get to the airport, board the plane, land, disembark the plane, go to the car etc, it would be much faster to go by car all the way

I wouldn’t be so quick to judge. Sometimes this industry demands artists to be in like two places at once so I could see why they have to travel so fast

other than that, this is just plain ridiculous

and other than that, I’m so terrified of flights. How can they like fly so casually at any time they want?! :enigma:

I've had this conversation with friends during the early covid/lockdown/civil unrest era. Celebs and rich people have to be held accountable and people on social media will start outing them and realise that if you do your part to care for the environment or talk about politics or other issues celebs cannot get away with it any longer without taking a stand or taking action to help the earth. This and the Kylie Jenner jet flights going viral are great. these people are beyond

You say this like this isn’t an issue or behavior that’s not going to affect us ALL when the time comes???

Imagine making such a miseducated and boxed-in comment. :huntyga: Totally “stalking” and not “calculation” in order to have proper data available when it comes to fixing the damn issue which we know no one will likely ever do, partially, due to people like you who think studies of things like this are a waste of time, whether you be a celebrity, somebody or nobody. If you have a body, on this earth, you best damned be not only interested, but willing to learn in this subject.

Another year off Earth's lifespan

I think this narrative needs to stop. The earth is gonna fine. It survived ice ages and meteorites, however WE are not gonna be fine. Nature adapts, it always does, we need to reshift the way we fight for this issue, not only because it’s not true ( the way we do it ), but also because people are selfish. Tell them that the problem is affecting them, not earth, and maybe they’ll care more.

:huntyga: Special extinction doesn’t sound too bad now that I think about it.

We were the disease all along.
