Chromatica in Dolby Atmos is incredible

Got a free trial for Amazon music with the Sony xm4's I got and the Dolby Atmos feature is really cool. Chromatica is insane on it. It's like I'm reliving the album again and I absolutely adore it! I think it somehwhat alters the song's instrumentals and vocals in certain places but its nice. The music quality is really a lot better, I might switch from spotify tbh...:music:

Sour Candy and Fun Tonight are the only tracks that I honestly can’t stand in Dolby Atmos because of an abundance in missing vocals and sounds. Alice sounds more atmospheric but the end feels weak and not as hard as the stereo version. Stupid Love, Rain On Me, Free Woman, 911, Plastic Doll, Enigma, Replay, Sine From Above, 1000 Doves and Babylon all sound nice.

Yeah there are definitely some things i dont like about the Dolby Atmos versions. Stupid Love, ROM and some others have some really weird mixing things going on. Also those plus a few others have some weirdly drastic volume changes that are uncomfortable to listen to. And via Apple Music it sometimes takes forever to load/skips mid song, but other than that it's a pretty great format! I feel like it will only get better with time :firega:

I have a real issue with a couple of the Dolby Atmos versions of 2 particular tracks (on Apple Music)

Stupid Love
Some of the vocals are turned down so much it the song doesn't make sense without these vox. The main line that sticks out is towards the end for "we got a" and it just screams "STUPID LOVE!" the mixing really takes me out of the whole song.

Rain On Me
The vocal mixing again on this song is so bad, some parts are really low some parts are really loud. While I appreciate the vocals being turned up, it's the ones that are down so low you can barely even hear them which makes no sense to me why they are even included.

Most of the other tracks are good though and I agree makes the whole experience better.. I just can't believe after 2 releases of Chromatica Dolby Atmos they STILL got messed up mixing.. bloodpop I'm on your side but you really let us down with these :bradley:

The melody that you choose can rescue you ♥

I agree! There are some very poor sounding spots in a few different songs, SL and ROM especially. Hoping it's a tech thing and it will improve as more artists record with Dolby Atmos in mind

I think a lot of the struggle is because the songs are formatted for Dolby Atmos versus recorded in Dolby Atmos like you mentioned with this being a tech issue. Chromatica isn’t the only album with these struggles. I’ve noticed that the only albums that really have decent mixing are Born This Way (title track sounds worse in DA) and Joanne. ARTPOP’s bangers don’t hit as hard—except for Venus at least to me, but tracks like Aura, Mary Jane Holland and G.U.Y. don’t hit as hard in the new format.

Still pleasant listening experiences overall but you’d think they’d at least keep the bass bumping lol.

I hope they go back (again) and fix some of the audio problems with Dolby Chromatica.  They done such a good job on Born This Way, Joanne and ARTPOP… I guess they were just getting used to using Dolby because Chromatica came first :cyanlights:

Unless it's android, which requires certain models, looks like the issues is more to the earbuds you use based on their support site. Not sure which device you own.

Joanne sounds amazing in Dolby atmos, but born this way and Chromatica sound so drastically different that I don’t enjoy those versions.

The Dolby Atmos idea sounds really cool but based on what I've listened with Gaga's music, some of the songs end up getting butchered. There's missing pieces of them and it's like they end up removing bass or something idk. It's nice to hear new things and maybe with a sound system made for it would be quite an experience but not a big fan of it right now. I've tried this with Airpods on Apple Music and Amazon music by the way, maybe a speaker made for this would be better.

I think Chromatica is her worst album in Dolby Atmos. It was mixed really early by a different mixing engineer who completely ruined it. The rest of her albums sound absolutely ethereal, with the exceptions of some songs. I just wish they'd go back and do Chromatica again because it is an album where you would feel the difference. For example, I can see Alice and ARTPOP as two songs that both could have this "levitating" feeling, but only ARTPOP does it well.

the last thing the world needs is another feet lover, but that's TOO BAD

I’ve realized the true experience with Dolby Atmos works when you have wired headphones, you hear what the mixing and mastering is supposed to pop like.
