About 2 years ago, I planned on listening to the Chromatica Album together with my younger bro. But drama happened between us that delayed our listening session. Eventually our relationship got better, but he doesn't seem interested anymore. And since it would take a long time before we can see her perform songs, I decided not to listen to any Chromatica songs. Before this, I have only listened to Stupid Love, Rain On Me, 911 VMA performance(did not watch the MV too), and some parts of Gaga's line in Sour Candy(which I had no idea was Sour Candy because of how much it sounded like Sweet But Psycho :billie:)

So few days ago on Chromatica Ball opening night, as I joined non Germany located monsters watch livestreams, I decided to finally hear the other songs from her. Not only do I hear it for the first time, I also get to see her perform it. That just makes the experience better IMO.

I woke up around 3 AM to catch her performing spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler spoiler

I did not immediately listen to the rest of the songs after the ball. Today(7/21), I have finally listened to all Chromatica songs. And also watched the 911 MV.

Here are my thoughts:  tldr they are all good

Best lyrics:

Sine From Above - this is so good. Elton+Gaga is always good :billie: . The lyrics is such a masterpiece. It's like a poetic narrative :enigma:

Saddest Songs:

911 and Sine From Above

Specially after watching the MV for 911, what really surprised me was how sad the last part of 911 is "pls patch the line" :fatcat:

Most Danceable songs:

Babylon, Stupid Love, ROM, and Replay

Babylon sounds really similar to Vogue btw and I really like the buildup of the instrumentals of Babylon towards the end. I spoiled some of the lyrics before but I had no idea it all sounded good as a song :billie:

Song that slowly grew on me:

Enigma, Replay, and somehow Alice

All the songs are good btw! If I were to semi rank them,

Upper bracket:

Sine From Above

Stupid Love

Babylon

911

ROM

Replay

Chromatica I, II

Upper Middle Bracket:

Sour Candy

Enigma

Alice

Free Woman

Plastic Doll - also sounds like a kpop song tbh

Lower Middle Bracket:

Fun Tonight

1000 Doves

Love Me Right

Chromatica III

Also, in a song there is the verse, chorus, then bridge. But what do you call the last lines of a song such as:

I hear the thunder coming down
Won't you rain on me?
Eh, eh, yeah (Rain on, woo)

Please patch the line
Please patch the line
Need a 911, can you patch the line?
Please patch the line
Please patch the line
Need a 911, can you patch the line?

You had the gun x4 (I think this is the bridge so ignore this)

I really love those parts in the song :enigma:

Overall, I'm so happy and proud of Gaga on this album. If you ask me if I regret taking 2 years to listen, no not at all :billie:. It feels like listening to a newly released album to me even though a lot of you already heard it 2 years ago :billie: Will I do it again? Most likely no. If ever, I'll probably try 1 song per month on her next album.

I could never in a million years wait 2 years to listen to a new Gaga album, but hearing those songs live for the first time before listening to the album version must be quite special to experience. Anyway, honestly you didn’t miss anything from the Chromatica era, the poor thing was left dead after the 911 MV :billie:

Wait this is iconic. Take time you need to digest art at the right time and moment. If gaga were to see this, she would have been so happy that you enjoyed the experience and songs together. To her it’s not about the streams on the first day of release, it’s about the impact, the ripples that allow us to love her in ultimately knowing how we can love ourselves

When I read the title I was like umm :awkney: but how did you do it!?

Also, I wished you listened to it before the ball. Listening to it in full, headphones on, with the Chromatica interludes was a religious experience :bradley:

Fans like us exist.

I haven't even listened to the whole ASIB Soundtrack album. I only listen to Shallow, ARUTW, WDYDT, HM, HBF and INLA

I'm aware of how the era felt blank after 911. Can't blame her. The whole world was going through the pandemic. :fatcat:

Honestly it was magical and special indeed. Imagine watching  Gaga only expecting songs you already know, and then she suddenly sings new songs after songs, with choreo/outfit. It's like how we were all surprised by The Cure but x5 bigger :billie:

When you consume something so fast, then you wish you had more, but now you don't, so all that's left for you is to wait for until who knows when. My wait for Gaga's new album won't feel as long as compared to you regular bird's wait :billie:. In my perspective it would be like I waited 6 years between Joanne and Chromatica. In your POV it feels like you've been waiting for Gaga's new album for about 2 years now while it's still fresh and new to me :billie:

How did I do it? Gotta thank my other queen Miley for being active during the last 2 years :enigma:

Listening to the songs after the ball in all it's studio glory is still very religious to me. I would think spoiling myself with the studio versions few hrs before the ball would have made a difference.

Sour Candy doesn't sound like Sweet But Psycho.

They're both terrible but at least Sour Candy has personality
