Lady Gaga - Best and Worst of Every Show

Now that we have seen the Chromatica Ball, what do you think the best and worst things of every Gaga solo show are? In my opinion:

The Fame Ball Tour

Best: arrangements (many songs on the setlist were remixed/rearranged: Paparazzi reworked and the rock elements in Poker Face with guitar solos like in Glastonbury were dope)

Worst: show overall (it was very short and she didn't perform half of The Fame anyways)

The Monster Ball Tour

Best: concept (it's still her most cohesive show and the storyline told with songs, albeit campy, is solid)

Worst: idk, maybe the dancing was a bit stiff?

The Born This Way Ball Tour

Best: stage (the castle itself, the way it was exploited for the show still has some flaws imo)

Worst: vocals (not necessarily true but I think her vocals really improved after this tour, she sounded tired in many shows due to the intense setlist, costume changes and all the stuff that literally broke her)

ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour

Best: lighting (the light work was really on point)

Worst: arrangements (too many shortened songs)

The Joanne World Tour

Best: vocals (nothing to declare here)

Worst: opening (wasn't a fan of the opening being a drum roll and her standing on a platform)

Enigma: The Las Vegas Residency

Best: backdops (the images on the screen are really immersive when experienced live)

Worst: storyline and outfits (the storyline felt like it was thought out in half an hour and the outfits, while not being as horrendous as many people on here claim, are definitely not on par with the past ones)

The Chromatica Ball

Best: visuals overall (they are a masterpiece, the best she has ever done)

Worst: stage (not complaining about it being basic - which is not - but you can't deny the boxed look blocks the view for many people in the audience)

Share your thoughts and keep it polite, or Imma find you and bite your head off :)

The Fame

Best: it was like very "genuine", idk how to word it, but it's something the first era of an artist always has

Worst: too short, but it's understandable

The Fame Monster

Best: the theatrics, concept and story

Worst: idk, maybe she relied too much on backing vocals?

The Born This Way Ball

Best: the stage, the interactions with fans, the setlist, the looks, the choreos

Worst: we don't have any professional footage from this tour at all, and again maybe she relied too much on backing vocals

The artRave

Best: her energy I guess

Worst: she was way too strident sometimes, the outfits were clearly a choice

The Joanne World Tour

Best: her best vocals EVER, the setlist, the stage

Worst: again, lack of pro footage, and yeah, the opening wasn't her best

Enigma

Best: she included several deep cuts

Worst: not an actual tour since most non-US fans couldn't afford to see it, her vocals were not the best sometimes, the looks, the story

The Chromatica Ball

Best: looks, vocals, energy, visuals

Worst: only one single deep cut/fan favourite, the ending

I’ll bring up the ones I’ve been to:

The Monster Ball:

Best: The backdrops made my jaw drop. The opening. Ending with Bad Romance was like getting run over by a truck.
Worst: Can’t even think of anything.

The Born This Way Ball:

Best: The outfits. The set list. The monster pit.
Worst: I actually think the castle is overrated. It just sat there.
— The way I could follow her ‘decline’ as I went to several shows and one not long before she had to cancel. I wasn’t surprised when it happened.

artRAVE:

Best: The stage. It was a party. No bad place to stand. It felt so intimate. Most fun I ever had a tour.
Worst: Not a fan of the outfits and didn’t worship the set list.

Joanne World Tour:

Best: It felt like she had matured a lot. Love the set list. The stage. Some of her sexiest outfits and hair.
Worst: The hanging runways. I was dead center barricade and they came down and blocked my view almost everywhere.
— Met her backstage and she looked EXHAUSTED, so once again I wasn’t at all surprised she canceled 2 days later. She seemed broken but was still so kind and attentive.

Enigma:

Best: Performed in such a small setting it’s so intimate. You’re very close to her. The set list. Scheiße and the robot. I also think the outfits get unnecessary hate. The mirror outfit and the body suit she wears during Scheiße are so cool. And princess salad is an icon now. A whole other person backstage from JWT which made me happy. Her eyes would even sparkle.
Worst: That she didn’t tour it.

The Chromatica Ball:

Going tomorrow but from what I’ve seen the outfits look amazing and the story and backdrops seem really thought through. The only complaint would be the boxed stage and other things about the stage which blocks the view for parts of the audience.

The Fame Ball

Best: Her ambition. She used every dollar of her budget to make it look good.

Worst: Duration- short setlist

The Monster Ball

Best: Setlist/storyline and props

Worst: Her dancing and singing, they booked her a lot of shows and she was very tired.

The Born This Way Ball

Best: Stage and lighting. The production of the show was out of this world, her best in my opinion.

Worst: Vocals, she was using a lot of background vocals and some songs were almost lipped.

ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball

Best: The lighting and setlist.

Worst: The shortened songs, I still can’t believe she half performed Sexxx Dreams, Aura and Swine.

Joanne World Tour

Best: VOCALS

Worst: Intro and encore. With such perfect visuals I was expecting something more for an intro than a countdown.

Enigma:

Best: Setlist

Worst: Costumes and visuals

The Chromatica Ball

Best: Vocals, dancing and visuals. Her best visuals of her career.

Worst: Some parts of the stage.

When we're not together tell me everything's gonna be alright

I forgot how much she struggled towards the end of TMB. I remember people saying she was drunk but actually she was so exhausted she couldn’t perform properly.

It’s rare you see a 23yo in that sort of way it was really concerning at the time.

Not the bore worms!

Especially when you remember she was also doing the best and most intricate videos of her career at this time AND writing and recording a whole other album AND doing press hits pretty often. It’s actually quite astounding what she achieved in that TMB era because her team was also a bit slimmer, I believe.

It really isn’t a shock that she wasn’t able to fight some of the BTW-AP backlash more. She was so broken down and burnt out. I’m curious how she was able to finish the ARTPOP tour given the stress around the era.

The Fame Ball Tour

Best: It's dynamic, the arrangements are good, the outfits are nice.

Worst: It's not a bad thing but it's pretty simple comparing to other tours.

The Monster Ball Tour

Best: The backdrops, the outftits, the scenery, the concept, the storyline and her ambition.

Worst: You can see she wasn't a very experienced dancer and singer at that moment.

The Born This Way Ball Tour

Best: The stage and the concept.

Worst: the BTW era was too intense and long and that affected her, she looked and sounded tired by the half of the show.

ArtRave: The ARTPOP Ball Tour

Best: the lighting and the stage design (the transparent platforms).

Worst: it felt like a medley show because a lot of songs were shortened.

Cheek to Cheek tour

Best: Her vocals and the chemistry bewteen her and Tony.

Worst:

The Joanne World Tour

Best: her vocals and her energy.

Worst: I didn't feel like she was promoting Joanne, it felt more like a standard Lady Gaga show.

Enigma: The Las Vegas Residency

Best: backdops and interesing concept.

Worst: The concept and the storyline weren't well executed,  the outfits and that wig were tacky.

The Chromatica Ball

Best: visuals, outfits and some choreos.

Worst: the setlist, I miss SFA, Fun Tonight and Plastic Doll (Even 100 doves), the lack of correlation with what we know about Chromatica,  again it feels like a regular Lady Gaga show.

I’d amend “not experienced singer” (because she clearly was) to “not experienced performing at-scale” which is what I would attribute to that tour feeling a little younger from her. I mean she went from theaters to Madison square garden within the span of the same tour hahaha that’s skipping a whole class of venue and jumping to the top dog. it’s clear she was still getting the hang of performing at that scale and that absolutely includes vocally. That said, her presence was among the best she’s ever had on tour tbh

In fact this show wasn't at the end of TMB tour, but early enough in TMB Arena tour in March 2010 while the tour started in February, she was exhausted back then because she was so skinny thin and  probably overworked and tired while going from Europe to Oceania and at the same time doing press interviews and promoting her then single Alejandro and also filming the Alejandro video and also writing BTW. Also it is confirmed even from her that she did heave drugs back in these days, so she wasn't really in a good shape physically and mentally.

But if we compare the MBT with the JWT there's a difference.

The Fame Ball

Best: Her ambition. She was hungry about performing. She probably used the entire budget to make it great and how she wanted.

Worst: Short setlist but understandable, only had one album out.

The Monster Ball

Best: She was on top of the world. The storyline, the screens, the fanbase was exploding, the speeches, the theatrics.

Worst: Can't really think of anything, probably that she -had to- perform The Fame album tracks which are not my favorites now.

Born This Way Ball

Best: The castle, storyline, energy, again the connection with fans, the setlist. She managed to squeeze the whole album with the bonus tracks in there.

Worst: Would've been incredible to have this on DVD, she hurt herself while performing and had to cancel it.

ArtRAVE

Best: Whole album in there, very colorful.

Worst: Coming after The Monster Ball and Born This Way Ball, feels like a downgrade.

Joanne World Tour

Best: Lots of fan favorites, incredible vocals after Cheek To Cheek, cool stage props.

Worst: A great album but don't really love it that much anymore.

I think it's still early to talk about Chromatica Ball after just one show but I really liked what I saw on YouTube, nothing bad except for maybe a couple of things here and there with the setlist I'd change.

As for Enigma, not really familiar with this but cool that she included Aura, Judas, Scheiße, Government Hooker, etc. still a choice that she starts with so many The Fame songs, could've shortened that but seems like a show for the general public so it's ok.
