Putin might ask for a ceasefire

Former Duma Deputy Loenid Volkov says the upcoming 2-3 months of war will be hugely important. He also says Putin wants to propose a ceasefire. This comes after HIMARS got in the the way of Russia's war plans and levelled off Russia and Ukraine's artilerry abilities. Russia's last strategic win were the capture of Severodonetsk-Lysychanks, however fighting stalled east of the new defensive line established around Siversk and Bakhmut.  Volkov says Putin's proposal will be met by positive reactions by the Western countries which are tired by the war, however these will be bad news for people that want Ukraine to retake back all of its lost cities and territories. This highlights an important thing, which is, after enough time has passed, if Ukraine tries to retake its lands it will be seen as the agressor that turned to bomb its own cities. This will be understood by the faction of public that is pro-Ukrainian public, but for others this will disrupt the newly found peace and likely be met with harsh criticism. At the same time, Europe's dependece on Russian energy and growingly resentful populations in countries such as Germany and Italy will make the pressure for Ukraine and Russia to sign a truce increasingly higher as winter approaches.
