I have some interesting finding related chromatica tours reference

1. Brutalism -> opening act -> she is using the brutalism reference as a canvast - empty space - that she is basically no one and all the fame she had change the colour of stage from grey to black. Manifesting how fame creates darkness to herself as a canvas. At Bad romance, she shaped herself as Geisel library. Brutalism was selected because it is popular in the 1950s to 1970s where disco very popular. Brutalism is called techno of architecture .

2. Act 2 -

Basically this short movie + the pain she suffers because of fame

3. Act 3 -

I still need to find the reference - the imagery of self destruction and robotic was very reminiscent of Jean Michel Basquiat which also famous in time where brutalism was very popular.

Act 4 - Basically Metropolis

Act 5: Dancing through pain : reference to Marina abramovic the unending agony book and how she turns pain into art

Is there any reference that I probably missed on?

Her intro look reminded me of Klaus Nomi and a lot of the Dada and Surrealist costumes of the early 20th century (such as Hugo Ball)

Alice reminded me of Marina Abramovic and her Aura performance at SXSW.

She referenced herself a lot too - the interludes are like the grown up sisters to the Monster Ball interludes. And the manifesto is a clear reference to TMB as well. Not to mention... she looked like the Countess!

That's so cool. The visual aspect is out of this world.

I would like to know what she's saying in the interlude where she's speaking. I can't understand. :air:

"Who studies honesty with wilder gaze while through its oddity must wings take flight!

Through alchemy the artist’s mind a maze a labyrinth of souls make joy and plight.

Admired by all faithful to their craft my gasp is quick imagining we’re free.

So like the way all children learn to laugh so effortlessly I have love for thee.

If fantasy could surely make a friend the palette of your dreams would draw them mad.

Beyond the universe you know no end while some still search for colour never had

This life is only art on life support..

and nature is a knight no king or court!"

These references felt like such a return to form for her. Of course ArtRave and the Joanne tour were great visual-wise, but the Chromatica Ball feels like she was pulling references from the same place that LADY GAGA, the artist, came from.

Did she write this or is she quoting another poet?

babylons performance is a huge love letter to ballroom culture, with the gold puffy dress being a reference to pepper labeija and her even saying ”it’s not a tour it’s a ball” before the song started. i mean the song itself is obv cut out for that but i thought the nod to pepper labeija was really cute. i hope more people got it. this fanbase thinks everything is cryptic when sometimes the references are just about real people who did hard things

I noticed the the self references too. The see through top during replay with the nip tape and during Babylon the dancers wore orbs on their head. Probably lots of others I missed too!
