Its insane to me that people expected Gaga to meet a literal murdered as if that would’ve enobled her portrayal? Did actors go to prison to meet Charles Manson every time something new was made about him? Like wtf the woman is clearly unsane what would she get from meeting her? Hear the accent she can hear in videos? Watch the mannerisms she perform in videos? Hear the story for someone who wants to clear their name?

Not y'all acting like some random influencer has more weight than BAFTAs, SAG, Golden Globes, etc. She's entitled to her opinion, but sometimes I find it funny when some of you all prop up youtubers/influencers as some massive voice.

I didn't watch it all because I don't agree with her. She actually argued against her own opinion.  She said that she thought Gaga should have met her, but then ... She actually later says that we know celebrities from the pictures and video that we find on the internet. Just paraphrasing, correct me if wrong.

I think the public knows Patrizia from her videotaped interviews that are now available on the internet. There was also a book that the script was based on. If Gaga had met Patrizia, she would be influenced to play her as she is currently, years later, in private, instead of leaning toward her publicly known appearances, and behavior from years ago. So, no, she did not have to meet her to do the job, imo.

I enjoyed a lot of Mina's content from awhile ago, but a lot of her stuff recently has kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I feel like when watching her videos, she inserts her opinion and somehow manages to try to present it as fact.

Eh I mean I think that movies and art cloud this opinion a little. Like, it’s the director’s and writer’s vision of Patrizia that Gaga is playing not the person. That’s impersonation which is a little different.

 

i think the key thing is that art and film and story have motives that characters fit into by design, life is not that way. So Gaga not meeting her, while a little funny because she’s alive, is just kinda fluff to me.

Haven't watched the video yet, but love Mina - her videos and takes are very well constructed, she's undoubtedly a very good video essayist, and the people who don't like her for it can seethe knowing they will probably never acquire the kind of pop culture awareness and contextual knowledge she has
