Writing a song is quite different from composing music for a film I think. If a composer takes Bad Romance and uses it to compose music for a film based on it, did Gaga then score the music of the movie according to you? In my opinion they are separate things

The movie’s producers have given her equal credit as Hans Zimmer so she is the official composer of the movie — you can literally see her name on the screen when the movie starts. Not to mention Hans himself said that they had several sessions where they worked together on the score. That’s the bottom line.

Never seen Hans saying that. If it is true I completely agree that she is equal to the others, but with what I read this was how I felt and then to say she is the #1 female composer purely based on her name is part of it and it grossed a lot of money seemed a bit too much.

That’s exactly how it works though :laughga: The producers gave her equal credit so she technically is the highest earning female composer. Her name is literally on the list of the top grossing composers:

But doenst the article say she wrote the song, and then we started incorporating it in the soundtrack. Sounds like zimmer and the others did that based on HMH, but Gaga and therefore also BP didnt score that much

"...how did their musical duties on “Top Gun: Maverick” break down?

“Each of them contributed significantly,” says Randy Spendlove, president of motion picture music at Paramount. “Harold came in and was here collaborating with Hans. And when we showed the movie to Gaga early on, she wrote this amazing song, and as that evolved, we asked her to contribute to the score.”

"Spendlove explains that Lady Gaga had “written the love theme, which is the heartbeat of the movie."

"“Top Gun: Maverick” marks Lady Gaga’s first effort at film scoring. “Hans and Gaga worked very closely,” says Balfe. “There were quite a few writing sessions. They were working on it for a long time.”

Again, there is really no point to try and question her contribution to TGM's score when the facts and evidence are there. Hope that clarifies this for you.
