FfFfFfFF 58,119
Russia's long-term goals likely still include a corridor to Transnistria, Danube The Secretary of State for Defense Policy, Planning and International Relations of the Romanian Ministry of National Defense, Simona Cojocaru, said that, from a strategic point of view, Moscow intends to return to the paradigm of the Cold War in terms of security and stopping NATO enlargement. "We can see that at the operational level, Russia is looking to create a land corridor between the Donbas and the mouth of the Danube and to take all the majority pro-Russian regions of Ukraine. History wasn't meant to unfold in this way, at least 12 years ago, when Russia was defined as a strategic partner in the Alliance's previous strategic concept. [...] Odessa remains in Russia's plans as part of a later stage of long-term military action. From this perspective, the most dangerous scenario for Ukraine, Romania and NATO would be the creation of a land corridor to Odessa and the connection with Transnistria ", said the Secretary of State. The idea of Russia wanting to create a land corridor to Transnistria is not new, but it's noteworthy that experts still cannot fully rule out is posibility. Very easily by looking at mostly optimistic news, one may have an inccurate idea and may think Russia is continously loosing and retreating, which is not the case. The desire for a land corridor to Transnistria was also recently acknowledged by a Russian propagandist on Italian TV. To think this this is scenario is only about about Moldova or Romania is a mistake. These are the countries that would be impacted by the war reaching the Mouth of Danube: If Russia will eventually reach the mouth of the Danube, NATO will have a newly found border with Russia. This will be different to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia's as the new border would have been achieved by war and not by formal agreeements. This shows that the buffer between Russia and NATO just keep getting smaller because in this day and age countries can no longer play the neutrality card. NATO is expanding diplomatically and Russia militarily. 15 minutes ago, tomsches said: How likely is that to happen? Right now it is impossible because Russia is stuck in Kherson since like March.. But over the long term, it is possible Russia will start a renewed offensive. Russia doesn't seem like the country to let it go, moreover sanctions still didn't make Russia collapse, in fact Russia receives more money from gas than it did before the war. Dennis 8,391
Mark my words, if Russia defeats Ukraine, what we'll have next is another "phony war". Something is going to happen with the baltics. They will try to create a land bridge to Kaliningrad too and completely landlock the baltics to intimidate them. The West, weak as usual, will probably try to meet Russia halfway and settle for a ceasefire. But they will seize the Suwalki gap by force in the near future. And that's my prediction. I agree and that is the key argument here, not a single nato country has ever entered the alliance against peoples will. And yet there's still people believing that it's "nato/eu aggression"that's causing this.
