SharkmanthaC 115,041
A pregnant Texas woman said her unborn baby should count as a second passenger in her vehicle after she received a ticket, citing Texas' penal code in the wake of Roe v. Wade's being overturned. Brandy Bottone, 32, of Plano, was pulled over June 29 after she drove in an HOV lane, or high-occupancy vehicle land, NBC-Dallas Fort Worthreported. Bottone was stopped by the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, which was looking for drivers violating the HOV lane rules. … Deputies told Bottone that if she fought the ticket, it would likely be dismissed. She plans to fight the $215 ticket with the argument that her in-utero baby should count as another occupant of her vehicle. TheFame Monster 9,015
It’s a good argument, but I don’t see how this will benefit the pro life movement so there isn’t really anything to celebrate. It could cause a rift between the forced birth people and law enforcement if it is decided that a pregnant person can’t drive in the HOV lane. Or forced birth people won’t care either way. It’s probably not going to have major impacts but it is a form of protest which I support completely. She’s helping bring to light the ridiculousness of these trigger/personhood laws. Although I think some Texas representative now wants to allow pregnant people to use the HOV lane. she/her/hers

I think it's a really poor argument actually The whole point of HOV lanes is to encourage carpooling... AK more than 1 seat per car taken so less cars are driving on the road A pregnant woman is going to be 1 car and 1 seat regardless... Trying to use that as a loophole at best is trying to find a technicality that misses the whole point and spirit and principal of what HOV lanes are supposed to be there for in the first place I could support allowing pregnant women the right to use them on a different basis such as driving with discomfort or needing more frequent trips to bathroom and so they are awarded that priveledge. But not on the basis of calling that carpooling, that is not carpooling

What she did is not immature. If they want to say a fetus is a person, it should be considered one across the board. The point of her arguing this isn’t bc she’s being an “immature brat”. She’s proving a very important point and fighting for her rights. I understand being sick of the fighting. It’s tiresome that we have live in a world that people have to defend their rights. The GOP wants to pick and choose when a fetus is considered a human being.

A fetus is a person in a hov lane as much as it is a person overall. She's being sarcastic and dramatic on purpose.
