I mean, the US' laws don't do much to break up companies here and encourage competition but...still 3 minutes ago, Economy said: But people bought the crap that American invading our market was bad, and thru that heavy lobbying the 3 Giants kept their monopoly intact Verizon is one of the better providers too, I believe A shame Whimsical bitch

There are many smaller companies that are technically under the 3 Giants umbrella and I wonder if that somehow gives them a technical loophole as far as monopolies go. I just know it's insane the prices we pay vs everywhere else. We had a chance to get major new competition years ago and people literally chose to pressure the government not to allow more competition

You'd think parent companies themselves would be subject to the laws, not the individual franchises It's like snack foods here (I deal with a lot of vendors in my work, don't judge ). You would be surprised how much is owned by Pepsi Co. Even competing brands of snack foods are owned by the same corporation. Seems like it should be illegal 3 minutes ago, Economy said: I just know it's insane the prices we pay vs everywhere else. LaLuna 12,732
Yeah it was really fun. Went to the convenience store this morning only for the clerk to tell me I couldn't pay with my debit card (he knows that's how I always pay for my stuff) and I didn't have any cash on me, I stopped carrying cash at the beginning of the pandemic What I didn't know though is that an Internet outage with Rogers could affect payment machines across the country. That's just wild to me, and kind of scary. I've always hated Rogers but now I hate them even more But I feel we've become way too reliant on the Internet and technology in general. When there's an outage it's like the world suddenly stops spinning and we can't function anymore. Like, most people basically can't work if they don't have access to the Internet. It was literally National Pride that got in the way. The Telecoms exploited the idea that an American Company coming into Canada was bad and ppl went with it. The 1 major downside I hate about democracy is that people are stupid and uneducated and those stupid ppl have a lot of influence in what the government chooses to do. As a result many decisions are made on emotional whims than actual logical thinking that was thought thru Same goes for our housing shortage. One issue (among others) is that NYMBYs (Not In My Backyard) people manage to stop a lot of projects or at least slow them down in court. They literally strangle dense housing supply that is desperately needed from coming online I hate it when the population demands things to their own detriment

Fortunately I had cash on me but sometimes I don't cuz I mainly use credit card (cuz of the points and the credit history) But this situation has made me decide that I'm always gonna have at least $40 in my wallet just in case It's not even just a rare Nationwide outage. Every so often it happens some individual places machine is down and u gotta use cash. Just never hurts to have some on hand just in case

Guest
It’s been such a nightmare today. I’ve never been so upset and stressed out in my life. I know, pathetic. I was on the phone with @Justin Drew Bieber when it happened at 5am and *POOF* … I was scared he thought I died from a nuclear attack or something. At least it’s slowly getting back to normal but my emotional state is permanently damaged… Long therapy sessions with JDB should help.
