Unlike other reconstructions, Krijn has an approachable, smiling face. While only a fragment of his skull survived, The National Museum of Antiquities in Leiden has reconstructed the ancient Nederlander‘s face — reports NOS. An amateur palaeontologist discovered a fragment of fossil on the coast of Zeeland, which was sucked up from the North Sea. It is estimated that he lived 50,000-70,000 years ago in Zeeland. Experts believe that he died around his 20th birthday. He also has a distinctive bump on his head, where palaeontologists believe he had a tumour — based on the state of his skull. “I think it’s cool to see such an old fossil, but when I look at the image I feel a certain kinship. I want to see similarities between myself and this guy, but tbh I don't see any Two explanations 1) Assuming he had children whose descedentants' lines survived until present, he is the ancestor of likely everybody alive today (people living some thousands of years in the past and which had children whose lines survived until present are the ancestors of everyody alive today). Meaning, if this is the case you have his genes but so do all Europeans. 2) The Neanderthals almost dissapeared after the first hunter-gatherers arrived in Europe. Neanderthals bred with them and their offspeings were then replaced to a great extend by Neolitic farmers coming from Anatolia into South-Eastern Europe. After they mixed with the local gatherers, then another wave came from the east: the Yamnaya that spread the Proto-Indo-European Language (more specifically Dutchmen descendent from a western version of the Corded Ware culture - which again was a mix between Steppe People and indigineous European Farmers).
