What’s questionable to me is the usage of the horse. I’m not sure yet if it’s too gimmicky. I get it as a Studio 54 reference for a disco album, but it’s very on-the-nose. It’s surprising to see Beyonce so overtly referencing a previous time period rather than conjuring up her own unique imagery. That makes it feel a little less innovative and a little more like cosplay/drag (especially for such a trailblazing artist). THAT SAID - I’m so ready for more disco music.
