Iran, Argentina to join BRICS

Argentina and Iran want to join Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa and become BRICS members. One of organization's aim is promote a multi-polar world and fight against US imperialism. As everybody knows, imperialism is only wrong when is done by the US.

Pro-Russian Twitter is over the moon because of these leaders' recent meeting. I actually find this scarry because I know the woke crowds in the West will eat this up and glance over Russia's ethnic assimilation and genocides just because it didn't colonize Africa/Latin America.

Fortunately this alliance is a nothing burger anyway. Literally Brazil for example, a member state, voted against Russia in the U.N. Go figure..

Okay but not a single power here openly supports Russia, and considering some domestic issues these powers have directly have stem from G7 powers (US with Iran and UK with India and South Africa), opening up the world stage a bit isn't the worst idea possible.

Russia and China obviously are dangerous powers with no regard for human rights, but once Bolsonaro leaves power, there is no reason to antagonise Brazil. Argentina, India and South Africa are no worse than the US in terms of domestic policy, and Iran will inevitably chill out a bit if it wants to grow on the world stage.

Sorry if thats too "woke" of an opinion to have :ohwell:

India literally hates Russia and China but needs them for protection. This alliance doesn't seem to have anything in common other than being anti western. The west got so much in common and are deeply tied through history and more. While BRICS (soon to be BRICSIA) is not to be underestimated, I feel like the alliance is formed out of desperation and won't be as strong as people might think.

Apart from Brazil, neither of these countries voted against the invasion at the UN council, and all of them are open the idea of deeping their economic and political ties with Russia. If you have an issue with US' past invasion but have nothing against Russia and its present invasion, you are nothing but a hypocrite. It's not about international law or human rights, it's about these countries' own interests. India and Russia ARE allies (India is one of Russia's most important buyers of military equipment) & as opposed to the first months of invasion, China and Russia are wamer to each other too, sending jets to fly together nearby the Sea of Japan during the QUAD meeting. The idea of collaborating with the Muslim world and any non-Western powers is, in a literal sense, out of Russia's playbook. This is what Dugin (prominent ideologist in Russia) talks in his book.

All of those countries need to get their own issues under control before they dream about world domination

India literally hates Russia and China

Are you a South Asian?

If you are I would like to know why you said India hates Russia. If you are not then I would like to ask you study more.

India hates China- true, but Russia- nope! They have a long history of friendship, even recently they are one of the biggest beneficiaries of purchasing cheap oil. When my country was at war with Pakistan, the US-supported Pakistan but Russia (Soviet Union) was on our side because of India's friendship. India and US have a problematic diplomatic relationship.

Russia is very influential in South Asia, and now US is really trying very hard to stay relevant here- but with big project fundings coming from China and Russia- it would be hard to control the region by the west.

Argentina is has got a very weak economy, standing on one leg, shouldn’t be anywhere near BRICS

and why should Argentina join an organisation w Iran? Iran has caused terrorist attacks in Argentina and now just recently Iranians w fake passports have been detained in Argentina, as well as their sketchy ass B747 that was flying car parts.. with the transponder off.. yeah sure.

I don't know why I mentioned Russia, I was thinking about a different country.

China money power seems to be the only possible cement of this unlikely assemblage of disparate countries with questionable political agendas.

edit: I bet Argentina is mostly there because they are still seething about the "Malvinas".

Wait I learnt about this in high school but I had no idea that it was something official? I thought it was just a name that was given by geographers to the economically emerging countries.
