To go where? :bear:

I know there's a few proffessions that pay a fair bit more in the US especially in Law, Medicine, tech/programming and engineering so I know a few head south for that

The rest are probably immigrants that move back after some time. If they haven't made it well here and felt it wasn't worth it they may go back, others may go back close to retirement age and sell their expensive homes here than retire comfortably back to their country

I think there’s also the fact that Canada is a pretty ugly country too, with just roads and strip malls. The city are dirty af and a lady just got set on fire on the subway…with subpar job opportunities compared to America. It’s not worth it at all.

At least if you live in California or New York, it’s expensive but you get access to so many top tier opportunities.

I mean every country has an ugly side

Canadian born and hate it here. Had to leave Montréal in the ‘70s due to French/English tensions and job discrimination. Toronto now is concrete high-rise condo hell on earth; dirty, unfriendly & unsafe with too much poverty and crime. Currently stuck here fulfilling elder care responsibilities, but the next phase of my life is outta Canada, fer surre; too eff’n cold! Winter was fun as a child, but not as a retiree. I’ll cash out my properties to emigrate to a retirement-visa-issuing friendly warmer country asap; eyeing Thailand perhaps to live out my life, as I know it well from younger work-days.
