I guess a lot of users on the site will be in states where abortion will be banned

I think a lot of people commenting on it don’t live in the US

Still as relevant as ever.

Any talks about prenatal care? Medical coverage for the baby? Affordable Housing? Affordable nutritious food? Safety? Climate change?  Pollution? Discrimination? Racism? Sexism?

Pro-birth people just care about a fetus being born but DO NOT CARE after it is born. Enough of these un-Christ like “Christians” thinking their fake righteousness should be the rules for everyone.

I mean
Republicans have said they wanted to do a nationwide ban. This gives them the legality to do so. Ur technically right that it’s not over, but essentially
it kinda is with this current court

Republicans in congress are elected though. They are accountable to voters. It’s a different situation. The majority of the US is pro choice.

Honestly I'm mad at Democrats for this one too. How many rights are we going to see pissed away before they decide to play the game with the ferocity that Repugnants do?

We control the executive and legislative branches of government and yet Republicans stay winning.

Democrats have had ample chances to codify abortion rights, same sex marriage rights, contraceptive and fertility rights but they just let the SCOTUS decisions sit there.

F*ck this.

- Expand the court to at least 13 judges. Now.

- Impeach Trump's 3 judges for commiting purjury.

- Impeach Thomas for being an accessory to insurrection. Even if he's just married to an insurrectionist.

- Eject EVERY GODDAMN REPUBLICAN who took part in the Jan 6th insurrection attempt. Charge them with treason.

- Scrap the electoral college.

- Reaffirm, somehow, that no piece of legislation in this country can use the words "God", "Creator", or "belief". We are a secular nation, it makes no sense that these Christian c*nts can impose their outdated beliefs on the rest of us.

- Readjust states' representation in congress to accurately reflect their populations. It makes no goddamn sense that a state like Wyoming gets the same number of senators as a state like California that has 20 times the number of people.

Stop. F*cking. Around.

Now is not the time to split hairs about pedantic differences between a supreme court decision making abortion illegal across the board and a supreme court decision which results in abortion being illegal in red states. Also, some Republicans are talking about passing a national abortion ban law.

I don't want to keep this argument going, but I do think that right now is the EXACT time to split hairs. Because it can get worse.

It's not federally illegal yet. But like you said, there is already talk about passing a national abortion ban - so I think it's REALLY important that people understand the difference, that although we can't easily reverse this decision to leave it to individual states, if people rally to vote for pro-choice candidates we can potentially prevent it from getting to the national level. And, if people in anti-choice states rally to get pro-choice candidates elected, they could potentially reverse the illegality in their state.

Wtf?? I didn't even know there was a debate abt this in the US. If anything, most countries are unbanning abortion, not banning it (I know they didn't ban it, but you know what I mean). Why did they ban abortion in the self-proclaimed Land of Freedom?

Do people seriously not understand the difference between banning abortion and letting the states decide? :hmm:

And how is that splitting hairs? People don’t even understand the balance of powers in this thread.

The states are banning abortion because the Court gave them the power to do so - it doesn't matter how you say it, abortion is becoming illegal.

Why are you so fixated on the exact phrasing of it? Like sis you're not a politician get off your high horse! People in this thread are highly aware of what the **** is going on!

Abortion is becoming illegal, in states that are making it illegal. Abortion was not banned nationwide. :)

Keep repeating yourself, and keep being wrong.

Please read my comment a few posts back.

Yes, abortion is now illegal (or severely limited) in 20+ states.

Abortion is NOT illegal in all 50 states - but it WILL BE if we don't act and vote for pro-choice politicians.

Pushing the narrative that "abortion is illegal now" is harmful because it could lead to complacency, when in reality, this needs to be a motivator to stop it from becoming illegal in all 50 states.

Also, if people in anti-choice states rally to get pro-choice politicians elected, they could potentially reverse the illegality in their state.

Also you assumed I was in favor of their decision because I am stating a fact. Back the **** off.

No one is arguing that it's illegal nationwide? That's just dumb and untrue. Did they allow it to become illegal in certain states, yes. They knew how certain states would swing, and allowed them to do so.

You're incredibly agressive and in such a dark, scary time, it's rude towards users on this site. Sad.

I like that as a woman, my comments explaining the issue with distinguishing this ruling just go ignored.

Fitting.

There’s a lot of blame to go around, but I would say that any party that abandons the working class in favor of larger campaign donations is pretty damn guilty.

It has resulted in large swaths of the American voter base either defecting to the populist right-wing or staying out of politics altogether. And you can’t just blame Bernie bros for this, because you know damn well that most Americans don’t vote in elections.

That being said, stand the **** up and VOTE
