The states with the strictest gun laws have the lowest rates of gun crime but that must be a coincidence right?

Muh 2nd Amendment and all that :vegas:

As someone who feels gun ownership should be well regulated, but who understands that the US Constitution allows for a well-regulated militia (well-run militia if you insist that “regulated” is an archaic word here), it’s still legal to have reasonable standards on who gets to be part of that well regulated militia. From the Wall Street Journal:

>>Those shall-issue regimes may require a license applicant to undergo fingerprinting, a background check, a mental health records check, and training in firearms handling and in laws regarding the use of force, among other possible requirements,” Justice Kavanaugh wrote. New York and other states could adopt licensing laws with similar requirements, he suggested.<<

So there you go. Welcome to the Militia. We’re a well run (regulated, really) militia here, so:

* You need to be 25 or older to join the militia

* We need a full background check. Any non-traffic violation convictions, misdemeanor or felony, disqualify you. Ditto with any mental health conditions where we can reasonably assume you might be a danger to others.

* We have monthly mandatory training on the third Saturday of the month at 9am sharp. You are not allowed to be late for this training. You are not allowed to miss this training. If one does not make it to training on time and attend the entire training every month, we shall remove you from the militia and ask you to turn in your firearms.

We can stop a lot of mass shootings with age requirements and a lot of street shootings by removing people with a rap sheet from our militia, while keeping a militia to protect us from enemies, foreign and domestic.

Yeah, thanks for not quoting it :spin:

It's as easy as pressing a single button to erase everything they post but quotes stay.

Just report and ignore :diane:

Maybe they'll decide to get a hobby someday :diane:

Unfortunately, some right-wing Trump-appointed judges forgot about that whole thing about a militia being well regulated:

>>In May, for instance, a 2-1 panel of Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, in San Francisco, struck down California’s law setting 21 as the minimum age to buy long guns and semiautomatic weapons. [...] Judge Ryan Nelson, who with another Trump-appointed judge formed the majority.<<

Hopefully, common sense will prevail at the Supreme Court and they allow a reasonable minimum age before owning firearms (I would make it 25 years old).

If not, and insanity has prevailed the Supreme Court, well, hopefully this faltering economy and high inflation end very soon, so that we can get enough Democrats in congress and in the Senate to pack the courts.

Just for context, guns when the constitution was written took like a full minute to reload after one shot, a completely different ball game compared to what guns are today. People in power need to get that through their thick skull and keep laws in place that keep these multiple-rounds-per-second guns restricted. This is ridiculous.

What was it a picture of?? 😮

Someone with poop all over them. I’ve changed enough diapers that it didn’t bother me in the least.
