Beat: yes we're dancing!
Chorus: uhm, it's the same phrase over and over again :huntyga:
The part at 1:45-1:52 is really cool.

It also sounds like Katy Perry’s walking on air.

it sounds like a bside from Chromatica.

I guess I just expected something kinda of fresh from Beyoncé. Maybe the album will be?

Literally anyone who’s saying it’s repetitive just doesn’t know what house music is/house isn’t for them. And that’s okay! We’ll be over here bopping to this absolute SERVE :firega:

People don't need to "learn"/"know" something first to like a genre of music lol.  You know things to appreciate it, but you still can dislike it.

Before anyone comes for me saying I’m “being too harsh,” these are just my true feelings of the song. When it was announced that Bey was going the house route, I was SO EXCITED because I love the sounds and melodies that come with house beats, and Chromatica is my favorite album, which is heavily house influenced. I finally thought this is something from Beyoncé I would truly LOVE. However, this track is just extremely underwhelming, especially considering how much the media outlets hyped her new music. The song is literally one beat the entire 4 1/2 minutes with the same 4-5 words for the entire chorus. The remaining lyrics seem basic and just kind of lack any deeper substance. I had such high hopes for this track, but I am really disappointed. I hope the rest of the album is better.

Edit - I have tried listening to the song a couple more times, and it is growing on me some! It’s not everything I had hoped for, but I’m starting to appreciate it for what it is. :)

I hate to compare, but I always felt Kelly was the one who really shone in dance/electronic beats -

She excelled with the Guetta collabs, along with "Work" and that recent one "Crazy" too.

She really did sumn with "Crazy":bradley:

Not y’all comparing Beyoncé’s track to chromatica. Beyoncé’s sounds like something you’d hear at the Berghain club in Berlin. Most of Bloodpops productions on chromatica sound like you let a high school student go wild on some free DJ software lol

I think the baseline is a little derivative but on the whole it’s fun. I’m mostly shocked that she barely harmonizes on it. At first, it made the track feel sparse because I’m so used to her doing that. I think also I wasn’t necessarily expecting, like, house house music from her and was expecting more chromatica (house influenced pop) so this is also refreshing in that regard.

Average. Those lyrics are laughable and trying hard to relate to people imo.

If she boasts about her **** she's arrogant. Now she's trying too hard to relate. Heavy is the crown

It really isn’t fair though. All of the elements from Chromatica were taken from old school house music, which came from black queer artists in that scene.

In this case it's not so much about the origins - it's because you could debatably say gaga was one of the big artists to bring back the house influence into mainstream which now appears to be a trend in mainstream - This is where the comparisons are laying about who bought back the sound.
