OT: So the justification is the misconception that MTF trans people are physically stronger, right? Isn't there science that proves that while that's potentially true in the short term, a fully transitioned person is hormonally identical to a person who was born in that sex?

I swear someone here brought the receipts that ~2 years after fully transitioning there's no significant difference whatsoever.

That’s the myth. Hormone is not the only component. Biggest reason as to why trans women have such significant advantage over cis women in sports is because they went through male puberty which makes their bone structure much more strong irreversibly for instance. Resources will come up if you search with keywords “trans women sports male puberty bone muscle” etc, don’t have good resources under my hand really.

Trans women in women’s competition is a big deal because going through male puberty gives them a huge advantage even  when they achieve hormonal balance of cis women after being on hrt for long time. 

Compared to that, trans men basically have disadvantage compared to cis men. There is only one trans men who competed in Olympic trials let alone breaking records like trans women can in women’s sports.

The most decorated olympian of the world literally owes that to his genetic superiority, i.e. Phelps. When is he getting banned, then? 
 

This ban is not about fairness, it’s about being transphobic. If they cared for fairness, they would provide a solution instead of simply banning trans people. And don’t come at me with “what solution” questions either, they are the ones getting paid to provide one, not me.

Absolutely this. 

This has never been about fairness, no matter how much that crowd wants to pretend that it is. There have been so very clear solutions laid out even in this thread, and yet those routes have not been explored, only a band has. Supporting a ban is supporting transphobia, end of story.

Honestly this video was so interesting and taught me alot thank you for sharing. I think folks here should definitely give it a watch. I do have some issues with the video but it's minor and it doesn't invalidate her main points at all.

I think it makes sense to ban transitioning athletes- but maybe not fully transitioned. If there is no strength difference between a biological and fully transitioned woman, than why not? But the period of transitioning is a different story than fully transitioned.

I agree with the swimming committee ruling. They specifically mentioned the size of feet and hands and lung capacity that develop in a male will be larger when developing after age 12. These aspects have significant impact on performance. When high level sports can permanently ban an athlete for taking a single dose of a banned steriod, I think this is a reasonable ruling.  I want trans people to be who they want to be, and all that, but not compete in sports that are gender segregated. It's not fair, imo.

For the people that think there should be no gender segregated sports, please consider these examples. Olympic medalist Bruce Jenner transitioned after he/she was done competing. Martina Navratilova tried to compete against men at tennis and it did not go well. Michelle Wie played in 13 golf events against men and made the cut in only 1 of them.

The prize money for women's sports is less too, which is why women try to compete in these other tournaments sometimes. In a sport like skeet shooting, lung capacity and size of hands and feet are not going to be a determining factor. So, perhaps there are sports that should not be gender segregated. I suppose this will be worked out over time as research and specific individuals work their way through competitive sports.
