Can someone explain to me how someone becomes one of the top 4 most successful female composers by composing one album? I get that the movie was huge, but to me this reads more as 'there aren't enough women getting hired to compose blockbuster films' than anything But also werk and congratulations queen. Yet another award for the museum I know I was blown away too. Actually Gaga comes in at #109. But that is if you rank it by all genders. If you rank it by women composers ONLY, she is #4. Do YOU own the 4' by 6' Perfect Illusion promo Poster? Will pay you for it. Pic: http://i.imgur.com/UWuzumk
Guest
she's also a composer on her own records... Being a composer doesn't just imply movie music.

Soon she'll make her own musical too so she'll be a stage director as well.

I lowkey hope it happens for this reason alone

Sunny21 608
Good for her! This is what I've been saying from day one, that writing a theme song and/or scoring a movie is a JOB. And Gaga WANTED that job! She's a classically-trained musician, after all. With movies, Box Office Gross is more important than Billboard charts... Composers are paid upfront and earn royalties from the movie. Same with acting, obviously. Of course Gaga knew Hold My Hand is NOT Shallow 2.0, because Top Gun: Maverick is NOT ASIB 2.0! She's the female lead in ASIB, a musical drama that made her a movie star overnight! Of course she knew Shallow debuted at #28 ONLY because it was featured in the movie trailer shown in theaters and promoted by Live Nation, 4 months before it was released, not to mention TV ads, etc. Shallow is the biggest hit from the movie because... Can you imagine ASIB without that Oh Ah Ah Ah Ah concert scene?? She knew HMH would climb slowly up the chart, and might not hit the top 60 (yes, I know it did). IS THAT ALRIGHT? from ASIB peaked at #63... and that's alright! 🙂 she/her/hers
StrawberryBlond 14,820
This is a really good sign for her Oscar chances seeing as Rachel and Hildur have actually won Oscars for their scores. I can't think of any other song that's got the same things going for it as HMH. She's really diversifying her portfolio with different kind of nominations and awards now. Remember that she'll also stand a chance at being nominated not just for best song but in the scoring category too, same for Grammys (another 2 Grammys in the bag would be awesome). Could you imagine if she wins both? How many singers keep up a steady stream of Oscar nominations? Most are lucky to get just one for best song. We're not exaggerating when we say that no one does it like her.
Galagala 4,610
I believe the score has her credit only because they use the HMH melody in it. Hans Zimmer has more to do with the composing thing.

At first I was worried about it too, but both Balfe and an Universal Music executive said Zimmer and Gaga worked together a lot in 2020 on the score. Based on that, I think Gaga got a master class from Zimmer.
