So basically, they're going on hiatus but are going to document it as a multimedia project under the band title

Focusing on solo releases, plural, multiple in a row, is basically still a group hiatus because the company wouldn't release both a solo project and a group project at the same time; they don't want to compete with themselves.  Plus it would overwork the individual member releasing close to the group.
