For the 3rd time tho... How the heck do u make joker a musical without it being so cheesy and tacky????

I don't think I've seen a single play, show or movie that was dark and had a lot of emphasis on music that wasn't just outright weird and strange

This is joker not Frankenstein horror meets creepy church organ music horror :toofunny:

Watch it be in the same dark key as the original but with a couple of musical numbers somewhat contestualized inside the story

Or

A much more interesting - but weird - theory I've heard of, focusing on a symptom typical of aneurysm and mental illness which involves seeing the world as switching between reality and fantasy, with the fantasy part usually being hallucinations about people singing and dancing

You realize this movie is going to be about two nutcases with minds completely removed from reality? And you’re worried characters breaking into song is gonna be weird? I sure hope being a musical is the most normal thing the film has to offer :laughga:

Very interesting, and this is reminding me of the way Dancer In The Dark was constructed. I could definitely see Todd Phillips taking a page out of Lars von Trier’s book.

Exactly. Plus he said that he would work on a Joker sequel only if studios gave him full control over the creative process and let him express a strong idea at its best, perhaps meaning he wanted to try something unusual

Try to think of it as something like they did in AHS-Asylum - not that campy ofc, but I think this scene could give you a small taste of what I am expecting the Joker as a musical to be (again: I expect it to be way less campy):

This is all really exciting tbh. I mean, if Gaga does work on the songs, holy ****. LG7, a villain’s twisted musical fantasy set in the Batman universe… Who saw that coming? It’s ticking every possible box for me.
